Eastlake Demons
The Eastlake Demons (formerly known as the Canberra Demons) is a semi-professional Australian rules football club based in the inner-south of Canberra, in the Australian Capital Territory. The senior team competed in the North East Australian Football League (NEAFL) from the league's founding in 2011 until it was absorbed by the Victorian Football League (VFL) in 2021. Canberra declined to join the expanded VFL. In January 2016, the league announced that Eastlake would rebrand and now be known as Canberra, though the Eastlake name would live on in local competitions. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an Australian rules football playing field, oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the Football (ball)#Australian rules football, oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kick (football), kicking, handball (Australian rules football), handballing and running with the ball. Nathan Clarke (Australian Footballer)
Nathan Clarke (born 27 October 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Clarke was recruited by Brisbane through the rookie draft, from Maroochydore in Queensland. His father, Barry, is a half forward flanker in the state's official Team of the Century. A utility, he played his first game late in the 2000 AFL season, against Hawthorn at the Gabba. In a memorable league debut, Clarke kicked two goals, took 10 marks and had 18 disposals. After appearing just twice in 2001, a Brisbane premiership year, he was delisted by the Lions. Clarke then nominated for the 2001 AFL Draft and was redrafted by Brisbane with pick 45, which they had received in the Trent Knobel trade. Manuka Football Club is a defunct Australian rules football club that played in the AFL Canberra from 1928–1991. The club played at Manuka Oval in the inner-south suburbs of Canberra. It merged with Eastlake Football Club in 1991. Tom Green (footballer, Born 2001)
Tom Green (born 23 January 2001) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Green was born in Townsville, Queensland. He spent his early years moving between Townsville, Toowoomba, Darwin, Melbourne and Tamworth due to his father's career as an army helicopter pilot. In year 6 at the age of 11, he settled in Canberra where he tried an array of sports which included Australian rules football, basketball, cricket and rugby union. He attended Marist College in Canberra. Green became a member of the GWS Giants Academy at the age of 12 and worked his way through the local junior ranks. He received an NAB Under-18 All Australian selection in his final year of junior football and was also nominated for the 2019 NEAFL Rising Star Award. Harrison George Himmelberg (born 8 May 1996) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Himmelberg was born in Wagga Wagga in the Riverina and spent one year of his childhood living in New York City where his American father was working. Upon returning to Wagga, he participated in the Auskick program at Mangoplah Cookardinia United Eastlakes Football & Netball Club in Mangoplah and began playing his junior football at the club in the Riverina Football League. Aaron Charles Rogers (born 5 January 1984) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). Born in Sydney, New South Wales, Rogers played in the Sydney AFL with St George. He was recruited to the Melbourne Football Club in the 2001 AFL Draft. Oleksandr Vasiliovych "Alex" Jesaulenko ( ; , ; born 2 August 1945) is a former Australian rules footballer and who played for the Carlton Football Club and the St Kilda Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He also served as a coach at both clubs. Jesaulenko is a Legend of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, and as a player was known for his versatility, uncanny balance and spectacular marking. He immortalised his reputation in the game by taking the most iconic mark in football history in the 1970 VFL Grand Final. Brad Fuller (footballer)
Brad Fuller (born 8 August 1978) is a former Australian rules footballer, who played in the Australian Football League. Overview Fuller made his debut in 1997 for Collingwood after being picked up late in the 1996 AFL Draft, at number 87 overall. His debut in 1997 was his only appearance for the year, but showed promise in 1998, kicking 3 goals on ANZAC Day against Essendon, yet he never returned to that form, and when Collingwood allowed younger players more of an opportunity go late in the season, Fuller was not seen as often as he would have liked, despite given a go early on in the season. He kicked 10 goals in his 12 games for the season. In his last season at Collingwood, he only played 6 games off the bench, before being delisted as Mick Malthouse took over the side.
