Eastern Stars FC is a semi-professional soccer club founded in July 2007 based in Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea, although the side plays most of its home matches at the Bisini Soccer Ground in Port Moresby. The club has competed a total of six times in the National Soccer League, and their best period came in the 2010–11 and 2011–12 Papua New Guinea National Soccer League seasons, when the side finished runners-up to Hekari United on both occasions. After their worst performance in six years of competition in 2014, the side took an extended break from the competition before returning for the 2019 season. The 2009–10 Papua New Guinea National Soccer League season, known as the Telikom NSL Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the fourth edition of Papua New Guinea National Soccer League. The title was won by Hekari United, who won their fourth consecutive title thanks to a 5–0 victory over Morobe FC in the Grand Final. Hekari striker Kema Jack won his third Golden Boot trophy, while Emmanuel Simon of Besta PNG United won the award for Player of the Season. Port Moresby United is a semi-professional association football club based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The club was founded in 2018. The club took part in the 2019 edition of the Papua New Guinea National Soccer League, and finished third in the Southern Conference. History The side was founded in late 2018 to act as a flagship team for the National Capital District of Port Moresby, and is backed by NCD governor Powes Parkop. Under coach Francis Moyap, the side entered the 2019 Papua New Guinea National Soccer League as one of eight teams in the Southern Conference. The side won their opening fixture against NSL veterans Eastern Stars, securing a 2–1 victory thanks to goals from Iamo Maneke and Chris David. Lae City FC, formerly known as Lae City Dwellers FC or Toti City FC, is a professional football club founded in 2014 and based in Lae, Papua New Guinea. The side currently plays in the Papua New Guinea National Soccer League, the highest level of football competition in PNG. Alongside Hekari United, the club is one of only two sides to have won a Papua New Guinea National Soccer League. The side has also competed in four editions of the OFC Champions League, with their best result coming in the 2018 and 2019 editions, when they reached the quarter-finals. Max Foster (born 30 October 1972) is an anchor and correspondent for CNN, based in London. He hosts the 1pm GMT edition of CNN Newsroom.
