Eastern Metropolitan Region
North-Eastern Metropolitan Region, previously Eastern Metropolitan Region between 2006 and 2022, is one of the eight electoral regions of Victoria, Australia, which elects five members to the Victorian Legislative Council (also referred to as the upper house) by proportional representation. The region was created in 2006 following the 2005 reform of the Victorian Legislative Council. The region was renamed to its current name since the 2022 state election. The region extends from Melbourne's inner eastern suburbs of Bulleen and Doncaster, north across the Yarra River to Lower Plenty and Eltham, and across to Bayswater, Croydon and Ferntree Gully (in the Dandenong Ranges) in the east below the Dandenong Ranges. It comprises the Legislative Assembly districts of Bayswater, Box Hill, Bulleen, Bundoora, Croydon, Eltham, Glen Waverley, Ivanhoe, Mill Park, Ringwood and Warrandyte. Croydon, Victoria
Croydon is an eastern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Maroondah local government area. Croydon recorded a population of 28,608 at the 2021 census. History Dating back to 1840 the land was first utilised by settlers for grazing and the first road cut through the area now known as Croydon, was initially known as Sawmill Road, as a sawmill was nearby. Later it became known as Oxford Road and later Mt Dandenong Road, some time in the early 1900s. Owing to the coarse silvery-white grass, the area now known as Croydon was first called "White Flats". Electoral District Of Ringwood (Victoria)
The electoral district of Ringwood is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, located in the east of Melbourne. It was first proclaimed in 1958 and was abolished in 1992. Some of Ringwood was included in the new electoral district of Bayswater that year. Kay Setches, who was at the time the last member for Ringwood, contested and lost Bayswater at the 1992 election. The electorate was created again in the 2013 redistribution of electoral boundaries that took effect at the 2014 state election. The new district largely replaces the abolished district of Mitcham, covering suburbs along the eastern parts of the Maroondah Highway.
