Eastern Christian College
Eastern Christian College or ECC was a co-educational, private Christian college that was located in Bel Air, Maryland, United States. It was supported by Christian churches and churches of Christ, which is part of the Restoration Movement. History Eastern Christian College was established in 1946 as ''Eastern Christian Institute'' in East Orange, New Jersey. It moved to its final location in Bel Air, Maryland in 1960 and was renamed Eastern Christian College. Its history was marked by significant financial struggles. ECC merged with Lincoln Christian University in 1993 and was renamed ''Lincoln Christian College East Coast'' in an attempt to stabilize its fiscal troubles. While marginally successful, ECC ceased operations and closed in 2005. Its remaining funds, library holdings, and equipment were absorbed by Mid-Atlantic Christian University. The town of Bel Air is the county seat of Harford County, Maryland. According to the 2020 United States census, the population of the town was 10,661. History Bel Air's identity has gone through several incarnations since 1780. Aquilla Scott, who had inherited land known as "Scott's Improvement Enlarged," planned the town on a portion that he called "Scott's Old Fields." Four years later, the town had expanded as local politicians, merchants, and innkeepers purchased lots from Scott, and the county commissioners decided to change its name to the more appealing "Belle Aire." In his deeds, Scott dropped one letter, renaming the town, "Bell Aire." Around 1798, court records dropped two more letters, and "Bel Air" was born. During this period, Bel Air began to rise in prominence. Fair Meadows is a historic home located at Creswell, Harford County, Maryland. It is a -story Second Empire–style house constructed in 1868 for the last owner of Harford Furnace, Clement Dietrich. The house is constructed of irregularly laid ashlar and features a mansard roof, cupola, dormers with rounded hoods, and stone quoins. The interior has a center hall plan and includes intricate inlay designs, black and white marble tiles in the center hall, plaster ceiling ornaments and friezes, marble mantels, and original crystal chandeliers. Also on the property are the ruins of a round springhouse, a one-story stone carriage house, a brick smokehouse, and three hip-roofed coursed rubble stone outbuildings.
