East Side Beat
East Side Beat were an Italian music group, which achieved success in Europe in the early 1990s. Fronted by a line up of Italian-American vocalist Carl Fanini and Italian keyboardist Francesco Petrocchi, the act was masterminded by producers Giovanni Cinaglia and Luca Capretti. Signed to Gianfranco Bortolotti's Media Records, they released their first single in 1991. This was a dance cover of Christopher Cross's " Ride Like the Wind" and became a hit throughout Europe, peaking at No.3 in the UK, which was to be their biggest market. Following this, the act concentrated on dance versions of past hits by other artists. They scored two more hits in the UK: a cover of Simple Minds' " Alive and Kicking" in 1992 and Lee Garrett's "You're My Everything" in 1993. Eurodance (sometimes referred to as Euro-NRG) is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in the late 1980s in Europe. It combines many elements of Hip-hop, rap, techno and Eurodisco. This genre of music is heavily influenced by the use of rich vocals, sometimes with Rapping, rapped verses. Gianfranco Bortolotti (; born 2 May 1959) is an Italian electronic music producer and manager of Media Records and Media Studio. He was a member of Cappella, and 49ers who had several hits, and Fits of Gloom, who had a UK No. 47 hit with "Heaven" and a UK No. 49 hit with " The Power of Love" featuring Lizzy Mack. In the United States, he scored a No. 1 single on ''Billboard''s Dance Club Songs chart with " Deep in My Heart" as a member of the group Clubhouse in 1991. Christopher Cross (born Christopher Charles Geppert; May 3, 1951) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. He won five Grammy Awards for his eponymous debut album released in 1979. The singles "Sailing" (1979), and " Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" (from the 1981 film ''Arthur'') peaked at number one on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100. "Ride Like the Wind" is the debut single by American singer-songwriter Christopher Cross. It was released in February 1980 as the lead single from his Grammy-winning 1979 self-titled debut album. It reached number two on the US charts for four consecutive weeks, behind " Call Me" by Blondie. On the album's inner sleeve, Christopher Cross dedicated this song to Lowell George, formerly of the band Little Feat, who had died in 1979. Lee Garrett (born June 30, 1943) is an American rhythm and blues singer-songwriter, most famous for co-writing the classic song " Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours". He recorded several solo singles during the 1960s, one of which was "I Can't Break the Habit". He had a hit in 1976 with " You're My Everything".
