East Perth Railway Station
East Perth railway station is located on the Midland, Airport, and Ellenbrook lines in Perth, Western Australia. It is operated by Transperth serving the suburb of East Perth. It is adjacent to the East Perth Terminal and Public Transport Centre. History The site occupied by East Perth station, East Perth Terminal and the Public Transport Centre was formerly the East Perth Locomotive Depot. The station took the name of the previous East Perth station, which was renamed Claisebrook. The former East Perth railway station was removed on the change of the railway system in the late 1960s. The original East Perth railway station opened in 1883, and in the early 20th century was found the name East Perth Junction (the junction being the line that proceeded to Armadale and joined the Eastern Railway close to the station). The Public Transport Centre (formerly known as the Westrail Centre) is a terminal and administration building for public transport in Perth, Western Australia. It is the centerpiece of East Perth Terminal (formerly known as ''Perth Terminal''), a standard gauge railway station and coach terminal adjacent to East Perth station on the Transperth narrow gauge suburban rail network. Joondalup railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network. It is located on the Yanchep line, 26 kilometres from Perth station serving the regional metropolitan city of Joondalup. History Joondalup station was built by Sabemo under a $5.2million contract. Construction began in November 1991. Sabemo's parent company, Transfield, was awarded the main award at the state Master Builders Association's Excellence in Construction Awards in 1993 for the construction of Joondalup station. Joondalup station opened on 20 December 1992 as the interim terminus of the Joondalup line (now called the Yanchep line), before being extended to Currambine in August 1993. Geraldton Railway Station
Geraldton railway station was originally the terminus of Northampton lines in Western Australia. It is located in Geraldton. History On 26 July 1879, the original Geraldton station opened as part of the Northampton line. It was the first government railway station in Western Australia. With the discovery of gold in the Murchison River, a new station was built off Durlacher Street. On 8 August 1900, it became the Geraldton Mechanic's Institute Library, with a second storey added in 1908. In 1975, the library was shifted to a new location and in 1979 the building was handed over to the WA Museum. When the WA Museum relocated to its new premises in 2000, the old station building lay vacant until restored in 2014 as the City of Greater Geraldton Visitor Centre. The ''MerredinLink'' is a rural passenger train service in Western Australia operated by Transwa between East Perth railway station, East Perth and Merredin railway station, Merredin. History The ''MerredinLink'' was introduced in June 2004 when the ''AvonLink'' from East Perth railway station, East Perth was extended from Northam railway station, Western Australia, Northam to Merredin railway station, Merredin on three days a week. In August 2013, Transwa announced that the ''MerredinLink'' would cease with ''The Prospector (train), The Prospector'' to make additional stops. However in December 2013 the service was given a reprieve. In May 2014, it was announced that the service would continue until at least June 2017. Kalgoorlie railway station is the easternmost attended station in Western Australia, located at the eastern terminus of the Eastern Goldfields Railway. It serves the city of Kalgoorlie. ''The Prospector'' is a rural passenger train service in Western Australia operated by Transwa between East Perth railway station, East Perth and Kalgoorlie railway station, Kalgoorlie. On this service, two trains depart almost at the same time in opposite directions. One travels between East Perth and Kalgoorlie, the other between Kalgoorlie and East Perth with crew changeover occurring in Merredin, Western Australia, Merredin. The original vehicles ordered in 1968 for trains providing this service were replaced in 2004 with vehicles capable of reducing journey times to 6 hours 45 minutes. Ellenbrook Railway Station
Ellenbrook railway station is a suburban railway station in Ellenbrook, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The station is the north-eastern terminus of the Ellenbrook line. Ellenbrook station consists of a ground-level island platform with a bus interchange and car park. The contract for the construction of the Ellenbrook line was awarded to Laing O'Rourke in October 2020. Construction on Ellenbrook station started in January 2022 and was completed in March 2024, making it the first new station on the Ellenbrook line to begin and complete construction. The station opened alongside the rest of the Ellenbrook line on 8 December 2024. There are five trains per hour stopping at Ellenbrook station during peak, reducing to four trains per hour outside peak. A journey to Perth station takes 31 minutes.
