East Lothian Yacht Club
The East Lothian Yacht Club or ELYC is based at the harbour in North Berwick, East Lothian, Scotland. It was founded in 1928 and moved from its temporary base at the Fishermans Hall to the current building in 1931, since which time various expansions and redevelopments have taken place. Some of the ELYC's buildings are now shared with the Scottish Seabird Centre. The interior of the club was completely remodelled in 2003. The ELYC regularly hosts national and international yachting competitions. It is also accredited by the Royal Yachting Association for various training and safety programmes. The 2006 calendar included national championships in the Laser and Medina classifications. In December 2005 the club was awarded £33,500 from SportScotland in recognition of its commitment to sailing and sail training. RS400
The RS400 is a light-weight sailing dinghy designed by Phil Morrison and manufactured by RS Sailing. The 2000 ''(formerly the Laser 2000)'' is a performance sailing dinghy designed by Phil Morrison and currently sold by RS Sailing. It combines a traditional GRP hull and foam sandwich deck moulding with a modern asymmetric rig including a furling jib, reefing mainsail and single line gennaker hoist system. The Topper is an 11 foot (approx. 3.3m) sailing dinghy designed by Ian Proctor. The Topper was a one-design boat until 2023 when a new version was produced, and is sailed mostly around the British Isles. It was recognised as a World Sailing Class. The boat was previously constructed from polypropylene, and now is roto moulded, which is popular as a racing boat or for sail training. The class association (ITCA) organises racing events, which range from small travellers to major championships.
