East Kowloon Line (1970 Scheme)
East Kowloon line () was one of the original five MTR lines proposed in the late 1970s in Hong Kong, which would have connected Sheung Wan with East Kowloon. Hong Kong Mass Transportation Study (1967) In September 1967 the Freeman, Fox, Wilbur Smith & Associates of Britain published a proposal to construct a mass transit system in Hong Kong, in which East Kowloon line was called Sha Tin line, connecting Wo Liu Hang in Fo Tan and Tsim Sha Tsui. Tsim Sha Tsui Station
Tsim Sha Tsui is an MTR station on the . The station, originally opened on 16 December 1979 on the , serves the area of Tsim Sha Tsui. East Tsim Sha Tsui station on the , which opened on 24 October 2004, is connected to this station by underground pedestrian passages. The two stations serve as an interchange point between the Tsuen Wan and Tuen Ma lines. History The station was built underneath Nathan Road in the late 1970s. The site of Exit A1 was once the vehicular entrance to Kowloon Park, which was relocated to Haiphong Road. The station opened on 16 December 1979 as part of the Modified Initial System. Service was extended southward, across the harbour, on 12 February 1980. Before the Tsuen Wan Extension opened, the single line of the MTR traveled from Central to Kwun Tong (whereas today all northbound trains from Tsim Sha Tsui go to Tsuen Wan). Hung Hom Station
Hung Hom () is a railway station in Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is an interchange station between the and the domestic services of the MTR network, as well as the southern terminus of cross-border through-trains to mainland China which has been suspended since 4 February 2020. The station is one of four Hong Kong ports of entry on the MTR network; the others are Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau, and West Kowloon. Ho Man Tin () is an underground MTR rapid transit station on the and the , located beneath Valley Road in Lo Lung Hang, as part of the Sha Tin to Central Link project. The station's lower platforms (serving Kwun Tong line trains) opened on 23 October 2016 along with Whampoa station as part of the Kwun Tong line extension, while the upper platforms of the opened on 27 June 2021. To Kwa Wan () is an underground MTR rapid transit station in Hong Kong on the . It is located beneath Ma Tau Wai Road in central To Kwa Wan, Kowloon City District. The station was built as part of the Sha Tin to Central Link (SCL) project, and opened on 27 June 2021 along with the rest of phase 2 of the Tuen Ma line (–). The station was constructed by a Samsung–Hsin Chong joint venture. Station layout The platforms are arranged in a split platform style as the station was constructed under the narrow Ma Tau Wai Road with a high density of nearby buildings. This arrangement also allows trains to switch sides, depending on the terminus. Trains on platform 1 switch to the left side, while trains on platform 2 switch to the right side. This is necessary since the Ma On Shan Rail was built with trains run on the right-hand side to facilitate interchange at , whereas on the West Rail trains run on the left like other railway lines in the territory. Sung Wong Toi is an underground MTR rapid transit station in Hong Kong on the , located in Ma Tau Chung in Kowloon City District. The station also serves Kowloon City and Ma Tau Wai via a pedestrian tunnel. The station was built as part of the Sha Tin to Central Link (SCL), and opened on 27 June 2021 along with the rest of phase 2 of the (Sung Wong Toi to Hung Hom). Kai Tak () is an underground MTR rapid transit station located on the Tuen Ma line, in the Kai Tak Development area of Hong Kong (near the old east apron of the former Kai Tak Airport in Kowloon City District). Quarry Bay Station
Quarry Bay () is a station on the and of the MTR in Quarry Bay on Hong Kong Island. The station livery is teal green. Location As with all stations on the Island line, Quarry Bay is located on the northern shore of Hong Kong Island. Platforms 1 and 2 are built beneath King's Road to Pak Fuk Road. Platforms 3 and 4 are built beneath King's Road to the south of Model Housing Estate.
