East Desert Range
The East Desert Range is a mountain range in Lincoln County, Nevada. Description The range is northwest–southeast trending around the Three Lakes Valley where Dog Bone Lake is the large landform in the valley flatlands. The range sits mostly to the north and northeast of Three Lakes Valley. The southern terminus of the range lies in a mixture of hills associated with the north perimeter of the Desert Range to the south. The Desert Range is southwest trending around the Three Lakes Valley. The low hills region between the two ranges contain Sheep Pass (southern terminus with Desert Range) to Desert Valley and Desert Lake to the west of the Sheep Range The Sheep Range is located north of Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States. Lincoln County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nevada. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,345. Its county seat is Pioche. Like many counties in Nevada, it is dry and sparsely populated, though notable for containing the Area 51 government Air Force base. History Lincoln County was established in 1866 after Congress enlarged Nevada by moving its state line eastward and southward at the expense of Utah and Arizona territories. It is named after Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States. Original legislation called for the creation of a "Stewart County", after Nevada Senator William M. The Sheep Range is located north of Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States. It is found in both Clark and Lincoln Counties in the Desert National Wildlife Refuge. The mountains reach a peak at Hayford Peak, above sea level between the Las Vegas Range to the east and the Desert Range to the west. The Sheep Range lies in a generally north-south direction. The Great Basin Divide starts an east-west transect at the northeast of the Spring Mountains, with the east-west transect border south being all of the Las Vegas Valley, and a midsection, north perimeter of the watershed for the Las Vegas Wash.
