Eagley Football Club was a association football, football club based in the village of Eagley, near Bolton in Greater Manchester. History The club was formed in 1875. It was one of the first clubs in Lancashire playing under association football rules. The club was one of the founder members of the Lancashire County Football Association in 1878 in football (soccer), 1878, and in 1878–79 it was the first recorded opponents of Preston North End F.C., Preston North End. The 1878–79 season saw Eagley take part in the first football competition in Lancashire, hosted by Turton F.C., Turton; Eagley took home the trophy, beating Turton in the final, despite Turton having "ringers" like Fergie Suter from Darwen F.C. 1885–86 FA Cup
The 1885–86 Football Association Challenge Cup was the 15th edition of the FA Cup, England's oldest football tournament. There were 130 entrants, sixteen more than in the previous season, although six teams did not play a match. Five Scottish clubs entered but one was eliminated in the first round in an all-Scottish tie and travel constraints caused the rest to withdraw. Preston North End
Preston North End Football Club, commonly referred to as Preston, North End or PNE, is a professional association football club in Preston, Lancashire, England. They currently play in the EFL Championship, the second level of the English football league system. Originally a cricket club, PNE has been based at Deepdale since 1875. The club first took up football in 1878 as a winter fitness activity, and decided to focus on it in May 1880, when the football club was officially founded. Deepdale is now football's oldest ground in terms of continuous use by a league club. Preston North End was a founder member of the Football League in 1888. A druid was a member of the high-ranking priestly class in ancient Celtic cultures.
