The Eagle 997 was the final built CART chassis by All American Racers, Eagle. The car was used in the 1999 CART FedEx Championship Series and was primarily campaigned by All American Racers. Robby Gordon also used a privately-entered Eagle 997 in select races in the later half of the 1999 season. Development History The car would be the first Championship Auto Racing Teams, CART race car to be designed using Computational fluid dynamics. Robert Wesley Gordon (born January 2, 1969) is an American semi-retired auto racing driver. He has raced in NASCAR, Championship Auto Racing Teams, CART, the IndyCar Series, the Trans-Am Series, International Motor Sports Association, IMSA, International Race of Champions, IROC and the Dakar Rally. While no longer competing in IndyCar and NASCAR racing, he is active in top-tier off road motorsports such as Best in the Desert, BITD, National Off-Road Racing Association, NORRA, and SCORE International. The 1999 Medic Drug Grand Prix of Cleveland was the ninth round of the 1999 CART FedEx Champ Car World Series season, held on June 27, 1999, at the Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland, Ohio. Report Race Pole Sitter and championship leader Juan Pablo Montoya led the early stages of the race until it was struck by a heavy rain shower on lap 33. Multiple cars crashed into the wall or spun, and the race ran under caution while the rain stopped, with Montoya leading from Paul Tracy and Gil de Ferran. The 1999 FedEx Championship Series season was the twenty-first in the Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) era of American open-wheel car racing. It consisted of 20 races, beginning in Homestead, Florida on March 21 and concluding in Fontana, California on October 31. The season was marred by the fatal accidents of Gonzalo Rodríguez during practice for the Laguna Seca round and Greg Moore at the final round, in addition to various injuries that took several drivers out of championship contention.
