The European Women's Basketball League, shortly EWBL, formerly known as Eastern European Women's Basketball League or EEWBL, is a top-level professional regional basketball league, featuring female clubs from EWBL members (Belarus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Ukraine, Turkey). History The competition was founded in 2015 under the name , as a women's regional tournament for Eastern European countries. Piešťanské Čajky
Piešťanské Čajky (officially Spoločné basketbalové združenie Piešťanské Čajky) is a Slovak women's basketball club that was founded in 2012 in the city of Piešťany. Piešťanské Čajky plays in the Slovak Women's Basketball Extraliga, Slovak League, the highest competition in the Slovak Republic. It is a 2-time national champion and current champion as of 2023. On the international scene, the greatest success was the runner-up of the European Women's Basketball League, EWBL the 2021/22 season and the win of the Central Europe Women's League, CEWL in the 2018/19 and 2024–25 Central Europe Women's League, 2024–25 seasons. Good Angels Košice, since 2018 playing as Young Angels Košice is a women's basketball team based in Košice, Slovakia that plays in Slovakia's domestic league and FIBA Europe’s EuroLeague Women. The team bears the name of a non-profit charitable organization Dobrý anjel (translated as ''Good Angel''). The team has gone by several names since its founding in 2001, including Delta VODS Košice (2002-2003), Delta ICP Košice (2003-2006), K Cero VODS Košice (2006-2007), Kosit 2013 Košice (2007-2008), Maxima Broker Košice (2008-2009), Dobri Anjeli Košice (2009-2011). TTT Riga
TTT Rīga is a professional women's basketball club based in Riga, Latvia. "TTT" means Tram and Trolley Trust. The team held its first official game on 5 November 1958. The next 25 years are known as the ''First Golden age'' of the club. Internationally, the club was also known as Daugava Riga, because Daugava was the predecessor of TTT Riga in the 1950s. Levharti Chomutov is a Czech professional basketball club based in the city of Chomutov. They play in the Czech National Basketball League – the highest competition in the Czech Republic. The club hosts both a men's and women's team, the men's team is referred to as Levharti Chomutov while the women's team is referred to as DSK Levhartice Chomutov. Men's team history The men's team was founded in 1946. The team plays in Czech Republic 1 Basketbolova Liga. Levharti Chomutov was Czech Republic 1Liga Champions in 2011. BK Brno
Basketbalový Klub Brno, currently officially BK Žabiny Brno, previously also known as Imos Brno for sponsorship reasons, is a Czech professional women's basketball club from Brno established in 1993, not to be mistaken with male club BC VS Brno. Team history BK Žabiny Brno has been the most successful team in the Czech league following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, dominating the championship between 1996 and 2008. The team has been Czech Republic D1 Champion in 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2010. BK Žabiny Brno has also been Czech Republic Cup winners in 2013, 2017, 2020, and 2023. In European Cups, BK Žabiny Brno has also been highly successful, winning the Women's Euroleague in 2006 and winning the EWBL in 2022. In 2005 it reached the Euroleague final but lost to CSKA Moscow.
