EUR Fermi
EUR Fermi is a station on Line B of the Rome Metro. Opened in 1955, it is sited in the EUR between Viale America and Piazza della Stazione Enrico Fermi. Next to it is the artificial lake created for the 1960 Summer Olympics. The station's atrium houses mosaics which have won the Artemetro Roma prize by Bruno Ceccobelli (Italy) and Rupprecht Geiger (Germany). Central Archives Of The State (Italy)
The Central Archives of the State (in Italian: ''Archivio centrale dello Stato'') are the main national archives of Italy. They were created in 1875 under the name of ''Royal Archives''. They took their present name in 1953. They are located in EUR, Rome and are put under the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture. However, each of the 103 Italian provinces has its own state archive, keeping the public documents created in that territory and, mainly, the state archives of the Italian historical states. PalaLottomatica, formerly known as Palazzo dello Sport or PalaEUR, is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment arena in Rome, Italy. It is located in the heart of the well known modern EUR complex. The arena hosted the 1960 Olympic basketball tournaments. The venue features 8 meetings points, a restaurant for 300 people, and a 2,700 square metre (3,229 sq. yard) outdoor terrace. EUR, Rome
EUR is a residential and business district in Rome, Italy, part of the Municipio IX. The area was originally chosen in the 1930s as the site for the 1942 World's Fair which Benito Mussolini planned to open to celebrate twenty years of Fascism, the letters EUR standing for Esposizione Universale Roma ("Universal Exposition Rome"). The project was originally called ''E42'' after the year in which the exhibition was to be held. EUR was also designed to direct the expansion of the city towards the south-west and the sea, and to be a new city centre for Rome. The planned exhibition never took place due to World War II. Rupprecht Geiger
Rupprecht Geiger (26 January 1908 – 6 December 2009) was a German abstract painter and sculptor. Throughout his career, he favored monochromicity and color-field paintings. For a time, he concentrated solely on the color red. Life and work Geiger was born in Munich, the only child of painter Willi Geiger. Besides Germany, the family spent time in Spain, and he also joined his father on trips to Morocco and the Canary Islands. It was on these trips that Geiger began painting. From 1926 through 1935, he studied and taught architecture and art at academic institutions in Munich. From 1936 to 1940, he worked as an architect at several firms, also in Munich. He was called up to fight in World War II and was at the Eastern Front in Poland and Russia, and then in 1943 and 1944 he was a war illustrator in the Ukraine and Greece.
