ETB Basque
ETB Basque is a Basque public international television channel operated by Euskal Irrati Telebista. It was launched on 1 January 2021, as a result of the merger of ETB Sat and Canal Vasco. It broadcasts in both Basque and Castilian languages. It broadcasts through IPTV, cable and YouTube. It broadcasts programmes from the main Basque channels, ETB 1 and ETB 2, abroad. Its programming is especially aimed at the Basque diaspora, both within Spain and in the rest of the world, particularly in Latin America, Europe and the United States. History The current ''EITB Basque'' channel is the direct heir of Canal Vasco/ETB Sat. EITB
Euskal Irrati Telebista (; ; acronym EITB, branded eitb) is the Basque Autonomous Community's public broadcast service, which broadcasts throughout the Basque Country. Its main brand is Euskal Telebista (ETB, Basque Television). EITB is the leading media group in the Basque Autonomous Community of Spain with five domestic television channels and six radio stations. Their channels are also broadcast in the whole Basque Country, and people in nearby territories such as Burgos (in Castile and León), Cantabria, Huesca and Saragossa (in Aragon), La Rioja, and the non-Basque-speaking region of Pyrénées-Atlantiques (in France) can also get the signal. It has been running since 1982 and during this period it has established itself as a major media organisation, connecting with more than a million people every day. ETB 1
ETB 1 (''ETB Bat'') is the first television channel from the Euskal Irrati Telebista group in the Basque Autonomous Community, Navarre and the French Basque Country. The channel broadcasts entirely in the Basque language. History In 1979 the Statute of Autonomy of the Basque Country was approved, the document contained the possibility of creating broadcast media owned by the Basque government, which would be used for the normalization of the Basque language. The channel began test transmissions on 31 December 1982 and officially launched on 16 February 1983 as ETB, using this name until the launch of its sister ETB 2 on 31 May 1986, at which point ETB was renamed to ETB 1. The gaur (''Bos gaurus''; ) is a large bovine native to the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia, and has been listed as Vulnerable species, Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 1986.
