The ''ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft'' (German for ESWE Transport Company) or ESWE Verkehr is a municipally owned company responsible for operating public transport in Wiesbaden, Germany. It operates 40 bus-lines and 9 night bus-lines. In addition to the city bus service in Wiesbaden, the company also operates the Nerobergbahn. Citaro G II ESWE
The Mercedes-Benz Citaro is a single-decker, rigid or articulated bus manufactured by Mercedes-Benz/ EvoBus. Introduced in 1997, the Citaro is available in a range of configurations, and is in widespread use throughout Europe and parts of Asia, with more than 55,000 produced by December 2019. History The first generation Citaro was launched in 1997, as a successor to the Mercedes-Benz O405. In 2005, an updated version of the Citaro to coincide with the introduction of Euro IV- (and later Euro V- and EEV-) compliant engines. Nerobergbahn
The Nerobergbahn is a funicular railway in Wiesbaden, Germany. The line links the city, with a station at the north of the Nerotalanlagen, with the Neroberg hill to its north, which offers a panorama view. History The line opened in 1888, and is one of the few funiculars employing water propulsion. At the upper station, tanks on the downhill car are filled with up to of water to ensure that it is heavier than the uphill car. The downhill car then pulls the uphill car uphill with a long steel cable. When the downhill carriage arrives at the lower station, the water is discharged and pumped uphill. In 1939, it was planned to convert the line to electric propulsion and to provide larger cars, but the outbreak of World War II prevented this.
