EPA Administrator
The administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency is the head of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and is thus responsible for enforcing the nation's Clean Air Act (United States), Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, as well as List of United States federal environmental statutes, numerous other environmental statutes. The administrator is nominated by the president of the United States and must be confirmed by a vote of the United States Senate, Senate. Lee Zeldin is the current administrator of the EPA. Lee Michael Zeldin (born January 30, 1980) is an American attorney, politician, and officer in the United States Army Reserve who has been serving as the 17th administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) since January 29, 2025. A member of the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party, he represented in the United States House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023. From 2011 to 2014, Zeldin served as a member of the New York State Senate from the New York's 3rd State Senate district, 3rd Senate district. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is an independent agency of the United States government tasked with environmental protection matters. President Richard Nixon proposed the establishment of EPA on July 9, 1970; it began operation on December 2, 1970, after Nixon signed an executive order.
