ECOBEE (Maglev)
ECOBEE () is a South Korean Maglev train developed by the Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials. History Ecobee was developed in 2006 as an advanced version of the UTM-02 to create a vehicle that could be operated by metropolitan city-level local governments. On December 21, 2006, the Ministry of Construction and Transportation signed an agreement with the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials for a maglev train. On January 31, 2007, the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials Urban Maglev Train Commercialization Project Group was launched. On June 26 of the same year, the construction of a demonstration line in Incheon Metropolitan City was decided. In December 2009, Hyundai Rotem completed the production of a test train. In July 2013, the name of the vehicle was officially decided as Ecobee. On February 3, 2016, the Incheon Airport Maglev using Ecobee as a demonstration line opened. Maglev
Maglev (derived from '' magnetic levitation'') is a system of rail transport whose rolling stock is levitated by electromagnets rather than rolled on wheels, eliminating rolling resistance. Compared to conventional railways, maglev trains have higher top speeds, superior acceleration and deceleration, lower maintenance costs, improved gradient handling, and lower noise. However, they are more expensive to build, cannot use existing infrastructure, and use more energy at high speeds. Maglev trains have set several speed records. Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) was established in 1991 to operate the Incheon International Airport in Incheon, South Korea. The Department of Transportation issued the P170.6-billion NAIA public–private partnership project 'Notice of Award' to SMC-SAP & Co. Consortium (San Miguel Holdings Corporation, RMM Asian Logistics Incorporated, RLW Aviation Development Incorporated, and Incheon International Airport Corporation) on February 16, 2024. On March 18, 2024, Marcos Jr. and Ramon Ang’s consortium (San Miguel Corporation) signed the $3-billion 15 years public–private partnership concession agreement for NAIA rehabilitation. Incheon Airport Maglev
The Incheon Airport Maglev was a maglev line in South Korea that opened on 3 February 2016 and closed on 1 September 2023. It was the world's second commercially operating unmanned urban maglev line after Japan's Linimo. The trains were lighter, cutting construction costs in half. The majority of construction was completed by November 2012. The maglev linked Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 to Long Term Parking, Incheon Airport Administration Complex, Paradise City entertainment precinct, and Yongyu station and Leisure Complex while crossing Yeongjong Island. Electromagnet
An electromagnet is a type of magnet in which the magnetic field is produced by an electric current. Electromagnets usually consist of wire (likely copper) wound into a electromagnetic coil, coil. A current through the wire creates a magnetic field which is concentrated along the center of the coil. The magnetic field disappears when the current is turned off.
