E. H. McEachren
Everett Hunter McEachren was an American politician from Arizona. He served a four consecutive terms in the Arizona State Senate during the 10th through 13th Arizona State Legislatures, holding one of the two seats from Gila County. He had served a portion of the 9th Arizona State Legislature, having been appointed to serve the unexpired term of John R. Lyons, who had died in office in November 1929. Biography McEachren was born in 1878 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He was a veteran of the Spanish–American War, having served seven years in the U. S. Navy. After the war he moved to Arizona, arriving in Bisbee, Arizona in 1902, and worked for the Calumet and Arizona Copper Mining Company. He married Roxie Ester Perkins on August 16, 1907, in Emporia, Kansas. In 1912, he moved from Bisbee to Miami, Arizona, where he served as justice of the peace. Gila County
Gila County ( ) is in the central part of the U.S. state of Arizona. As of the 2020 census, the population was 53,272. The county seat is Globe. Gila County comprises the Payson, Arizona Micropolitan Statistical Area. Gila County contains parts of Fort Apache Indian Reservation and San Carlos Indian Reservation. History The county was formed from parts of Maricopa and Pinal counties on February 8, 1881. The boundary was then extended eastward to the San Carlos River by public petition in 1889. The original county seat was in the mining community of Globe City, now Globe. Popular theory holds that the word "Gila" was derived from a Spanish contraction of Hah-quah-sa-eel, a Yuma word meaning "running water which is salty". In the 1880s, a long range war broke out in Gila County that became the most costly feud in American history, resulting in an almost complete annihilation of the families involved. Miami ( Western Apache: Goshtłʼish Tú) is a town in Gila County, Arizona, United States. Miami is a classic Western copper boom-town. Miami's old downtown has been partly renovated, and the Bullion Plaza Museum features the cultural, mining and ranching history of the Miami area. According to the 2010 Census, the population of the town was 1,837. Geography Miami is located at 33°23.8'N 110°52.3'W (33.396, -110.872). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land. Miami is adjacent to Globe, and near the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. Robert Taylor Jones (February 8, 1884 – June 11, 1958) was an American businessman and politician who served as the sixth governor of the U.S. state of Arizona and served from 1939 to 1941. Early years He was born in Rutledge, Tennessee, to Samuel Joseph and Sara Elizabeth (Legg) Jones. His father was an American Civil War veteran from the Union side who was active in politics and in the affairs of his community. Jones was educated in the Tennessee public schools, He began his career as a self-taught practical engineer, while still in his teens. Al Kinney
Alfred Kinney was a politician from Arizona. He was one of the first two state senators from Gila County, serving in the first three state legislatures, and the 6th through 10th legislatures, a total of eight legislatures overall. Life Kinney was born in Ohio, leaving home at the age of 14 and traveling to Colorado, where he remained for several years, before heading to New Mexico. He stayed there for two years, then made his way to Arizona, where he eventually ended up in Globe, Arizona, where he arrived in 1881. After his arrival in Globe, he initially worked at a sawmill, where he lost an arm. He was married to Clara Kinney. Sometime in late 1888, or early January 1889, Kinney purchased the Globe Soda Water Works. In 1891 Kinney purchased a commercial ice making machine, after which the company was renamed The Globe Ice and Soda Works.
