Dicle Haber Ajansı, DİHA (), is a "pro-Kurdish" news agency of Turkey. Activity In March 2012, Reporters without Borders reported that 27 of its journalists were in prison. DIHA produces news reports on Turkish, Kurdish, and English DIHA had several times difficulties with the Turkish authorities and several of its journalists were arrested. In March 2009, following the coverage of the Newroz festivals in Siirt, Abdurrahman Gök was arrested and charged with making propaganda on behalf of the Kurdistan Workers' Party. Between December 2015 and May 2016, 12 of its journalists were arrested. Turkish authorities have blocked access to the website 40 times; the website changes its address every time it is blocked. Following the 2016 Turkish coup d'état attempt, it was one of more than 150 news outlets shut down by the authorities. Abdurrahman Gök
Abdurrahman Gök (born 17 April 1980) is a Kurdish journalist and the author of the photographs which documented the murder of Kemal Kurkut. Education Gök was born on 17 April 1980, Kuyubaşı, Batman. He attended primary school in Kuyubaşı and received his secondary education in Batman. After he graduated from high school in 1997, he studied Arabic. Later he studied journalism at the Ege University in İzmir, and was employed by the Dicle News Agency in 2004. Until 2014, he worked as a reporter, regional news chief, editor and news director at Dicle News Agency (DİHA). Between 2014 and 2015, he worked as news director at Azadiya Welat, the only Kurdish daily newspaper published in Turkey. Afterwards, he worked as the Editor-in-Chief of Jiyan TV, which broadcasts in Kurmancî and Kirmancki dialects of Kurdish via Türksat satellite for about 20 months. 2016 Turkish Coup D'état Attempt
In the evening of 15 July 2016, a faction within the Turkish Armed Forces, organized as the Peace at Home Council, attempted a coup d'état against state institutions, including the government and president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. They attempted to seize control of several places in Ankara, Istanbul, Marmaris and elsewhere, such as the Asian side entrance of the Bosphorus Bridge, but failed to do so after forces and civilians loyal to the state defeated them.
