Déja J Bowens is a British actress and singer. Career Bowens attended Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, graduating in 2021. Her stage work has included playing Mamie in ''Marys Seacole'' by Jackie Sibblies Drury at the Donmar Warehouse in London in 2022 Bowens made her television debut playing the lead role of singer-songwriter Vita Champion in the 2023 Candice Carty-Williams television series ''Champion'' for BBC One. Prior to the series, Bowens had only previously publicly sang as part of her church choir. She told ''The Evening Standard'' she was not fully prepared for how much music she would have to perform on the show, but Hollie Richardson in ''The Guardian'' described it as “an exciting screen debut” for Bowens, and Anita Singh in ''The Daily Telegraph'' notably singled out Bowens for praise from a “talented cast”. Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, formerly Mountview Theatre School, is a drama school in Peckham, south London, England, founded in 1945. Mountview Academy provides specialist vocational training in acting, musical theatre and actor musicianship, as well as production arts and theatre creative practices. The President of the school is Dame Judi Dench, and the Principal is Sally Ann Gritton. History Mountview was founded in Crouch End, north London, in 1945 by Peter Coxhead and Ralph Nossek as "The Mountview Theatre Club", an amateur repertory company staging a new production for a six-day run every second week. Ray BLK
Rita Ekwere (born 2 August 1994), better known under her stage name of Ray BLK (pronounced "Ray Black"), is a British singer and songwriter who was born in Nigeria, and grew up in Catford in London. She won the BBC's Sound of 2017, and was the first unsigned artist to do so. On 28 October 2016, she released her debut mini-album, ''Durt'', and in January 2018 signed to the UK branch of Island Records. Her debut full-length studio album, ''Access Denied'', was released to critical acclaim in October 2021. Background Ray BLK, whose real name is Rita Ekwere, was born in Nigeria and moved to London when she was about four. She grew up in Catford.
