Dyreborg
Erik Birger Dyreborg (né Poulsen, 20 January 1940 – 12 November 2013) was a Denmark, Danish association football, footballer who played as a Striker (association football), striker. He scored eight goals in his six matches for the Denmark national football team, Danish national team, before he became professional with Boston Beacons. He is most noted for his five goals in an international match against Norway national football team, Norway. Career He started his career named Poulsen as an amateur in the Danish club Boldklubben Frem, BK Frem, and won silver in the 1958 Danish 1st Division. In 1960, he was travelling with the Danish national B team to Herning. Eight players lost their lives when 1960 Danish football air crash, the plane Dyreborg was supposed to travel with crashed, but Dyreborg had been put on a different plane to make room for a kit basket. 1960 Danish Football Air Crash
On 16 July 1960, after taking off from Copenhagen Airport at 15.38 local time, a de Havilland Dragon Rapide plane, (registration OY-DZY) chartered to the Danish Football Association, crashed into the Øresund about from shore after the pilot lost control of the aircraft in severe weather. All eight passengers died; the pilot survived but required a leg to be amputated. Accident Witnesses reported that shortly after taking off, one the plane's engines failed as the aircraft was only from the surface. The plane then went into a spin and crashed into the water about beyond the end of the runway. In the immediate aftermath, all sporting events throughout Denmark were cancelled. A scheduled exhibition football match by Manchester United in August was cancelled out of respect for the players' families. Henning Boel
Henning Boel (born 15 August 1945) is a Danish former football player, who played professionally in the United States and Scotland. He most notably won the 1970 Scottish Cup with Aberdeen, and was inducted into the Aberdeen FC "Hall of Fame" as one of the founding members in 2003. Boel also played 15 games for the Danish national team. Playing career Boel began his footballing career, playing as a defender, for amateur club Ikast FS in his childhood town of Ikast. While at Ikast, Boel became a regular in the Danish national team, earning five Under-21 caps and 13 of his 15 full caps from 1965 to 1967. When the professional North American Soccer League was founded in 1968, Boel moved to the US, playing three games for Boston Beacons, then fifteen for the Washington Whips. The North American Soccer League (NASL) was the top-level major professional soccer league in the United States and Canada that operated from 1968 to 1984.
