Dynasty (association)
Dynasty was an association founded in 1999 by the Finland, Finnish bands The Rasmus, Killer (Finnish band), Killer and Kwan (band), Kwan. Killer has since disbanded and are no longer considered members. Philosophy The reasons for founding the association was to strengthen the co-operation between the bands and subsequently their members. Members are anticipated to display the Dynasty logo, for example as part of tattoos or on guitar straps. Co-operation within the association transcends the main bands, and guest appearances are common. The Rasmus' drummer Aki Hakala has played in both Killer and Kwan, also appearing in Kwan's music video for the song ''Padam''. Killer was co-produced and co-managed by Lauri Ylönen and Pauli Rantasalmi from The Rasmus. Rantasalmi has also produced the Kwan song ''Chillin' at the Grotto''. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Alternative rock acts achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with the likes of the grunge subgenre in the United States, and the Britpop and shoegaze subgenres in the United Kingdom and Ireland. During this period, many record labels were looking for "alternatives", as many Arena rock, corporate rock, hard rock, and glam metal acts from the 1980s were beginning to grow stale throughout the music industry. Killer (Finnish Band)
Killer was a rock band founded in 1999 in Helsinki, Finland. Although Killer was a quartet, vocalist Siiri Nordin was by far the most visible member. History The group's debut single ''Hurricane'' was released in February 2001. In August 2001 the debut was followed up by ''All I Want'' – a track that topped the local airplay list and made it to No. 2 on the charts, moving the band's debut album 'Sickeningly Pretty And Unpleasantly Vain' up to gold. Their second album, ''Sure You Know How To Drive This Thing'' was internationally released in 2003 and entered the Finnish charts at position 7. Lauri Ylönen
Lauri Johannes Ylönen (born 23 April 1979) is a Finnish singer-songwriter, best known as the co-founder and frontman of the Finnish alternative rock band The Rasmus. Biography The Rasmus When he and Heinonen started at Suutarila high school in the early 1990s, they met Pauli Rantasalmi and later Janne Heiskanen. Ylönen initiated the project of The Rasmus (then called just "Rasmus") in 1994, along with Eero Heinonen ( bass) Pauli Rantasalmi (guitar), and Jarno Lahti (drums), with Lahti subsequently being replaced by Heiskanen. First, they called themselves Trashmosh, then Anttila, and at last Rasmus. They played their very first show before the winter break in school, 1994. They played songs with a style of rock and funk. Ylönen became the lead singer, composer and songwriter of the band. He quit school because the band took too much of his time.
