2006–07 National First Division
The 2006–07 National First Division (known as the Mvela Golden League for sponsorship reasons) was the 11th season of the National First Division, the second tier of South African soccer. The champions were Free State Stars, who finished eighteen points ahead of their nearest rivals, and were promoted to the South African Premier Division. Points deductions PJ Stars Kings were deducted 15 points by SAFA for using unregistered players, and as a result suffered relegation to the SAFA Second Division. Black Leopards FC is a South African professional association football, football club based in Thohoyandou, Vhembe, Vhembe Region, Limpopo, that plays in the National First Division. History The club was founded in 1983 by business people in the Vhembe Region. In 1998 the club was taken over by the Thidiela family. After just two seasons of campaigning in the National First Division, Black Leopards FC was promoted to the ABSA Premier Soccer League. Zulu people (; ) are a native people of Southern Africa of the Nguni. The Zulu people are the largest ethnic group and nation in South Africa, living mainly in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. They originated from Nguni communities who took part in the Bantu migrations over millennia. The 2012–13 National First Division was played from September 2012 until May 2013, and is the second tier of South Africa's professional football. Polokwane City won the league, earning promotion to the 2013–14 Premiership. Santos and Mpumalanga Black Aces finished second and third respectively, qualifying for the 2012–13 PSL Playoff Tournament, which Mpumalanga Black Aces won, also earning them promotion to the 2013–14 Premiership. Clubs played a varying number of games over the course of the season due to a number of boycotts which took place at the beginning of the season. The 2011–12 National First Division was the season from September 2011 until May 2012 of South Africa's second tier of professional football. For the first time since the 2003–04 National First Division season, all teams were placed in one unified league table. Previously the competition had been split into two 'streams'. Summary At the conclusion of the season Tuks FC secured their promotion to the Premiership after topping the table. Second-placed Chippa United and third-placed Thanda Royal Zulu were joined by Santos of the Premiership in a three team promotion and relegation playoff. 2010–11 National First Division, was the season from September 2010 until May 2011, of South Africa's second tier of professional football. The overall NFD champion was promoted to the first level, known as Premier Soccer League (PSL). While the losing team of the championship final, faced a round robin playoff stage, against the second lowest ranked team of PSL and the two second ranked teams of the NFD streams. Season structure The league is made up of 16 teams, split into 2 streams. Each team plays the other 7 teams in their stream 3 times, for a total of 21 games. Teams receive 3 points for a win, 1 for draw, and 0 for a loss. By the end of the season, the Coastal stream champion Vasco da Gama met to play the overall championship final, against the Inland stream champion Black Leopards.
