Dykebar Football Club was a Scottish association football, football team located in the town of Paisley, Renfrewshire. History The club was founded in 1879, albeit in its early years it did not play competitive football, and did not even host a "conversazione" - the usual annual celebration of a club - until January 1886. Its first competitive football came in the Renfrewshire Cup in 1885–86, and its first match something of a false start; the club lost to Paisley Hibernian F.C., Paisley Hibernians but the Hibernians had not registered a single one of the starting XI with the Renfrewshire FA, so Dykebar was put through to the second round; Hibernian secretary James Gildea accepted the blame, on the basis that, having registered the players with the Scottish Football Association, he had not thought it necessary to do so again with the county association. Port Glasgow Athletic
Port-Glasgow Athletic was a football club based in Port Glasgow, Scotland. The club was formed in 1878 and originally named Broadfield before changing their name in 1881. They played in the Scottish Football League between 1893 and 1911, and were based at Clune Park. Originally the town name was spelled Port-Glasgow, with a hyphen, this style was dropped after WW2. The Port played for one season in the Scottish Football Alliance in 1891–92 and spent 1892–93 playing cup-ties and friendlies. New Cumnock is a town in East Ayrshire, Scotland. It expanded during the coal-mining era from the late 18th century, and mining remained its key industry until its pits were shut in the 1960s. The town is southeast of Cumnock, and east of Ayr. History Early history One of the first mentions of the village was when Patrick Dunbar of Comenagh signed the Ragman Roll of 1296. The 1888–89 Scottish Cup was the 16th season of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. 3rd Lanark RV beat Glasgow rivals Celtic (making their Cup début) 2–1 in a replayed final. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket.
