Dutch Punk
Dutch punk, or Nederpunk, is a body of music that evolved in the Netherlands that encompasses the various styles of punk rock music. The culture surrounding punk rock is often strongly politically oriented; in the Netherlands, punk culture grew alongside, and was influenced by, the Dutch squatters' movement and other European squatters' movements. Few Dutch punk bands write lyrics in Dutch. However, as a small country, punk in the Netherlands has evolved with a unique mix of UK, US, European, and global punk influences. History The beginning of punk in the Netherlands (1977-1979) A seminal event for punk in the Netherlands was the Sex Pistols' concert on January 6, 1977, at the Amsterdam Paradiso. The Sex Pistols played three shows in the Netherlands on that tour, along with the Heartbreakers and the The Vibrators, Vibrators. The Nixe
The Nixe was a Dutch punk band from the city of Utrecht in the Netherlands. The Nixe was possibly the first all-female punk band in the Netherlands. Their lyrics emphasized women's experiences, and were written from a feminist perspective. Although the Nixe played at many women's festivals, they preferred not to be thought of as a politically motivated punk band. They liked to play in front of audiences that were not only women. They defended the movement to squat in unused buildings and performed in squats on the Plompetorengracht, the Biltstraat, and the Lange Nieuwstraat. The band won worldwide attention through contributions to compilation albums such as the American ''Killed by Death'' series and the album "I'm Sure We're Gonna Make It" released on Epitaph Records. A photo of members of the Nixe is one of the most iconic photos of the early Dutch punk scene. For example, this photo was used to advertise the Centraal Museum of Utrecht's 2012 exhibition entitled "God Sav ...

On 31 January, Queen Juliana announced that she would abdicate in favour of her eldest daughter, Princess Beatrix, on 30 April. Riots Beatrix ascended the throne on 30 April 1980, and squatters started to riot. The protesters were rallyi ...
