Dutch Block
The Dutch Block (, NB) was a Politics of the Netherlands, Dutch nationalism, nationalist political party espousing an Opposition to immigration, anti-immigrant program. It was founded by Alfred Vierling, Ton Steemers en Hans Lindenburg, modeled on the Flemish Block and later taken over by Wim Vreeswijk, who became city council, council member in Utrecht. The party was founded in 1992. It had a seat in the municipal council of Utrecht (city), Utrecht from 1994 to 2000, where Wim Vreeswijk was elected. From 1994 to 1997, it also had a seat in Almelo. The elected councillor there, Henry Oudendijk, was originally a member of Centrum Democraten, but changed parties after two months; in March 1997, he left Nederlands Blok and continued as an independent member. Anti-fascist research group Kafka, commonly abbreviated to Kafka, is a Dutch anti-fascist and far-left research group. Its name was said to be an acronym for () before 1994, but the research group has since indicated that they had named themselves after the writer Franz Kafka. History Kafka finds its origins in the squatters' movement. It conducts research into groups and individuals in the Netherlands whom it considers to be far-right, and the developments related to them. The results are published on the website of the research group. Kafka is funded by gifts and donations, rather than subsidies. Jaap van Beek has been the group's spokesperson since at least 2010. Centrum Democraten
The Centre Democrats (, CD) was a political party in the Netherlands. Founded in 1984 by members who split out from the Centre Party (CP), the Centre Democrats was joined one month later by the only CP Member of Parliament— Hans Janmaat. Janmaat went on to become the leader of the party, which subsequently became strongly centered on his person. The newly formed Centre Democrats represented the more moderate faction of the Centre Party, but espoused an anti-immigration and nationalist ideology. Their claims of standing in the centre of the political landscape have thus been disputed by political scientists. The Centre Democrats did not gain enough votes for parliamentary representation in the 1986 general election, but Janmaat won back his seat after the following election in 1989. Almelo
Almelo () is a Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality and a city in the eastern Netherlands. The main population centres in the town are Aadorp, Almelo, Mariaparochie, and Bornerbroek. Almelo has about 72,000 inhabitants in the middle of the rolling countryside of Twente, with the industrial centres of Enschede and Hengelo as close neighbours but also with tourist towns like Ootmarsum, Delden and Markelo only a bicycle ride away. Vlaams Blok (, VB; ) was the name of a Belgian far-right and secessionist political party with an anti-immigration platform.Erk, 2005, pp. 493-502.
