2019 Rugby World Cup Squads
The 2019 Rugby World Cup was an international rugby union tournament which was held in Japan from 20 September until 2 November 2019. Twenty national teams competed, and each brought a 31-man squad containing no regulated number of players per-position to the tournament. The tournament was administered by World Rugby, to whom each team submitted their finalised squad by 8 September 2019. A player may be replaced for medical or compassionate reasons, but would be unable to return to the squad. Any replacement player has an enforced stand-down period of 48 hours before they can take the field. Players marked (c) were named as captain for their national squad. The age listed for each player is on 20 September 2019, the first day of the tournament. The numbers of caps for each player do not include any matches played after the start of tournament. Mike Sheppard (rugby Union)
Mike Sheppard (born December 20, 1988) is a Canadian rugby union player. He currently plays Lock and can also play Flanker for the Toronto Arrows in Major League Rugby (MLR). Professional career On November 11, 2018, he made his international debut for as a substitute against and scored a try in the 69th minute. Sheppard played for the Ontario Blues. He previously played Ontario University Athletics rugby for McMaster University and played club rugby for Stoney Creek Camels RFC. The 2019 Rugby World Cup was the ninth edition of the Rugby World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's rugby union teams. The opening match was played at Ajinomoto Stadium in Chōfu, Tokyo, with the final match being held at International Stadium Yokohama in Yokohama. Number 8 (rugby Union)
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types. Players that play multiple positions are called "utility players". Forwards compete for the ball in scrums and line-outs and are generally bigger and stronger than the backs.
