Dusky Canada Goose
The dusky Canada goose (''Branta canadensis occidentalis'') is a subspecies of the Canada goose. They are the darkest variant, similar to the Pacific cackling goose. Tagged dusky geese have red bands with white letters on them attached to their neck. They represent one of the smallest populations of Canada goose in the Pacific Northwest. Due to the species' minimal population and exclusive breeding grounds, the dusky Canada goose is a species of interest to the Pacific Flyway Council and the U.S. Forest Service. The Cordova Ranger District, on the Chugach National Forest, has been working since 1984 to implement a monitoring and restoration program for the geese. Spencer Fullerton Baird
Spencer Fullerton Baird (; February 3, 1823 – August 19, 1887) was an American naturalist, ornithologist, ichthyologist, Herpetology, herpetologist, and museum curator. Baird was the first curator to be named at the Smithsonian Institution. He eventually served as assistant Secretary of the Smithsonian from 1850 to 1878, and as Secretary from 1878 until 1887. He was dedicated to expanding the natural history collections of the Smithsonian which he increased from 6,000 specimens in 1850 to over 2 million by the time of his death. He also served as the U.S. United States Fish Commission, Commissioner of Fish and Fisheries from 1871 to 1887 and published over 1,000 works during his lifetime. Bald Eagle

Middleton Island
Middleton Island is an island in the U.S. state of Alaska, located in the Pacific Ocean approximately southwest of Cordova. Most of the acreage on the island is owned by Chugach Alaska Corporation, a for-profit corporation. The island is also home of the unattended Middleton Island Airport and NEXRAD weather radar (FAA), and the privately owned Middleton Island Marine Biological Station with researchers resident year-round. A World War II-era American transport ship beached on the island in 1942 where the wreck is still intact.
