Yisroel Moshe Dushinsky
Yisroel Moshe Dushinsky (; December 22, 1921 – March 26, 2003) also known as the Maharim, was the second Rebbe of the Dushinsky Hasidic dynasty of Jerusalem, Israel. He assumed the leadership of the Hasidut at the age of 28 upon the death of his father, Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky, founder of the dynasty. He was also a member of the rabbinical court of the Edah HaChareidis for over 40 years, completing his tenure as the seventh chief rabbi of the Edah HaChareidis from 1996 to 2003. Early life Yisroel Moshe Dushinsky was the only child of Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky and his second wife, Esther Neuhaus. His father was over 50 years old at the time of his birth. Yisrael Moshe was born in Chust, Ukraine, shortly after his father began serving as Rav of that city. He was named after his paternal grandfather, Yisroel, and his great uncle, Rabbi Moshe Schick (the ''Maharam Schick''). Dushinsky (Hasidic Dynasty)
Dushinsky (Duschinsky, Duschinszki, Duschinszky) is one of the few Hasidic dynasties not named after the place where it originated; instead, it is named after the rebbe's surname. It is relatively new, and became a dynasty in Jerusalem, where it is centered today. Unlike other Hasidic groups, it does not originate from a Hasidic background, but from the ''talmidim'' (students) of Moses Sofer. Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky (; 1867 – 17 October 1948), also known as the Maharitz, was the first Rebbe of Dushinsky (Hasidic dynasty), Dushinsky and Chief Rabbi (''Ga'avad'') of the Edah HaChareidis of Jerusalem,previously having held the title over Agudat Yisrael as well. Early life Dushinsky was born in Paks, Hungary, to Yisroel and Sara Elka Dushinsky. He was a disciple of the author of ''Shevet Sofer'', one of the grandchildren of the Moses Sofer, Chassam Sofer. After his marriage to Sheindel, the daughter of Rabbi Mordechai Winkler, author of ''Levushei Mordechai'', Dushinsky became the Chief Rabbi in Galanta, Slovakia. In an epidemic during World War I, his wife died, leaving no children. He subsequently remarried Esther Neuhaus, daughter of Rabbi Yoel Tzvi Neuhaus. Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky (third Dushinsky Rebbe)
Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky () is the third Rebbe of the Dushinsky Hasidic dynasty of Jerusalem, Israel. He assumed the leadership of the Hasidut upon the death of his father, Rabbi Yisroel Moshe Dushinsky, second Dushinsky Rebbe, in 2003. The Dushinsky Hasidic movement was founded by his grandfather and namesake, Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky, in Jerusalem in the 1930s. Both his father and grandfather also served as ''Gaavad'' (chief rabbi) of the Edah HaChareidis. He has one brother, Rabbi Mordechai Yehuda Dushinsky, who is Rav of the Dushinsky community in Beit Shemesh. The Rebbe heads Yeshivas Beis Yosef Tzvi, the movement's flagship yeshiva on Shmuel HaNavi Street in Jerusalem, as well as the movement's other educational institutions, which have close to 3,000 students in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Ashdod, and other locales.
