Duryu-dong
Duryu is a '' dong'' (neighborhood) in Dalseo District, Daegu, South Korea. It is the site of Duryu Park and Woobang Tower Land, a popular Daegu amusement park. Although legally a single ''dong'', Duryu-dong is divided into three administrative ''dong'': ''Duryu-1 l'', ''-2 '', and ''-3 amdong''. Together, the three administrative ''dong'' cover 2.44 km2. They were home to 34,280 people as of October 31, 2005. The region's name comes from Duryu-san, the hill on which Daegu Woobang Tower is situated. It is a hanja transcription of a dialect term meaning "round", referring to the hill's rounded shape. Daegu Subway Line 2 passes through Duryu-dong, as does the Dalgubeol Expressway. Dalseo District () is a district in western Daegu, South Korea. It borders Dalseong County on the north, south, and west, and Seo District, Daegu, Seo-gu and Nam District, Daegu, Nam District on the east. It has a population of about 520,000, and an area of 62.34 square kilometers. The population rose dramatically in the 1990s, and has been approximately level since 2000. Duryu Park
Duryu Park () is a park located in Duryu-dong, Dalseo District, Daegu, South Korea. It was founded in 1965. The area of the park is 1,653,965 m2. It is equipped with many facilities such as multipurpose playgrounds, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a roller skating rink, a football field, and a baseball field. A ''dong'' () or neighborhood is a submunicipal level administrative unit of a city and of those cities which are not divided into wards throughout Korea. Daegu Subway Line 2
Daegu Metro Line 2 is the second rapid transit line in the South Korean city of Daegu. It is operated by the Daegu Transit Corporation. The line first began running from Munyang to Sawol on 18 October 2005, a distance of . The line had been scheduled to open some years earlier, but fallout from the IMF crisis of the late 1990s caused delays in construction. Dalgubeol Expressway
Throughout and before recorded history, Daegu has served as a nexus of transportation, lying as it does at the junction of the Geumho and Nakdong rivers. During the Joseon dynasty, the city was the administrative, economic and cultural centre of the entire Gyeongsang region, a role largely taken over now by Busan in South Gyeongsang Province. Prehistory and early history Archaeological investigations in the Greater Daegu area have revealed a large number of settlements and burials of the prehistoric Mumun Pottery Period (c. 1500-300 BC.).
