Durmus A. Demir
Durmuş Ali Demir (March 10, 1967 – February 24, 2024) was a Turkish people, Turkish theoretical physicist. He worked at Sabancı University between 2019-2024. He was a dean of the Graduate School of Engineering and Sciences at the Izmir Institute of Technology where he was the ex-chair of the Physics Department. His research areas include supersymmetric standard model, extra dimensions and general relativity. Silifke
Silifke is a municipality and Districts of Turkey, district of Mersin Province, Mersin Province, Turkey. Its area is 2,692 km2, and its population is 132,665 (2022). It is west of the city of Mersin, on the west end of the Çukurova plain. Silifke lies on the Göksu River, the ancient Calycadnus, near its outlet into the Mediterranean. TWAS
The World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS) is a merit-based science academy established for developing countries, uniting more than 1,400 scientists in some 100 countries. Its principal aim is to promote scientific capacity and excellence for sustainable development in developing countries. It was formerly known as the ''Third World Academy of Sciences''. Sedat Simavi (1896 – 11 December 1953) was a Turkish journalist, writer and film director. He established many newspapers and magazines. Biography Simavi was born in 1896. His grandfather and uncles served in different positions in the office of Ottoman Sultans. His parents were Halil Hamdi Bey and Aliye Hanım. She was granddaughter of Grand Vizier Saffet Pasha. Simavi graduated from Galatasaray High School in 1912. In 1916 Simavi started his first publication entitled '' Hande'', a weekly women's magazine. Then he launched a satirical magazine, '' Diken'' and another women's magazine '' İnci''. His first daily newspaper was '' Dersaadet'' which was established in 1920. Turkish Academy Of Sciences
The Turkish Academy of Sciences ( – TÜBA) is an autonomous scholarly association aimed at promoting scientific activities in Turkey. Although it is attached to the office of the Presidency and is largely funded by the government, it maintains financial and administrative autonomy. The academy is headquartered in Ankara. In addition to conferring awards and fellowships to distinguished scientists, the academy is also responsible with determining scientific priority areas and proposing policies and needed changes in legislation to the government. The implementation and management of actual research programmes is carried out by TÜBİTAK.
