Ruth Durlacher (née Dyas; 22 July 1876 – 21 September 1946) was an Irish tennis player. She played in the Wimbledon Championships between 1897 and 1907. Early life Durlacher was born Ruth Dyas in Malahide on 22 July 1876. Durlacher was daughter to Jacob Dyas and Sophia Dyas. Durlacher was baptised Protestant (Church of Ireland) on the 16 November 1900 in St. James Paddington. Durlacher had one brother and one older sister. The Durlachers were a wealthy family. Their original family home was Heathstown House. Durlacher grew up in England. She entered her first competition at 18. She married fellow tennis player Neville John Durlacher in Rathdown on 17 December 1898 at the age of 23. Lindsey Durlacher (September 14, 1974 – June 4, 2011) was an American Greco-Roman wrestler, mixed martial arts fighter, and judo athlete whose career highlight was a bronze medal at the 2006 FILA Wrestling World Championships at 55 kg. He was among the most accomplished collegiate wrestlers in Illinois history. Early life Durlacher was Jewish, and was born in Evanston, Illinois. Alfred Durlacher
Alfred Durlacher (18181869) was the fifth resident magistrate to be appointed to Toodyay, Western Australia, serving between 1861 and 1865. Durlacher was born on 30 May 1818. As a young man equipped with a sound education, he left for the Swan River Colony on , arriving at Fremantle in 1838. He was immediately employed with the Survey Office, and worked as a surveyor until 1841, then again in 1843. In that year he led the Lefroy brothers, Gerald de Courcy and Anthony, who were searching for unleased pastoral land, on an expedition to the Moore River district. He then left the civil service and tried various occupations, including a failed attempt to join the Anglican ministry. When he applied to be a candidate, Archdeacon John Ramsden Wollaston placed him under Reverend Charles Harper at Toodyay. Miriam Dorothy Durlacher, more commonly known as Doris Durlacher, (18701942) was a nurse and midwife in Toodyay, Western Australia. Early life Durlacher was born on 14 March 1870 at White Peak Station near Geraldton, to Deborah Wilberforce Durlacher (the daughter of Michael Clarkson). Doris's father, Alfred Durlacher, had committed suicide four months earlier. After Durlacher's birth, the family moved to Toodyay to stay with relatives, before moving to Fremantle, where she attended school. After some years living in Fremantle the family moved to Perth where, after finishing her education, Durlacher opened a school for young children in Adelaide Terrace. Patrick Neville Durlacher (17 March 1903 – 26 February 1971) was an English cricketer. Durlacher was a right-handed batsman. He was born in Paddington, London, the son of Neville Durlacher and his Irish-born wife Ruth Dyas. He was educated at Wellington College, where he represented the school cricket team. It was for the college that he was part of the Wellington Rackets pair who won the Public Schools Championship in 1921. He played for Buckinghamshire in the Minor Counties Championship in 1920, which turned out to be a successful season for him, which paved the way for him to make his first-class debut for Middlesex the following season. Elcan Durlacher (; 1817 – 21 December 1889) was a German Hebraist and publisher, best known for his translations of Jewish liturgy into French. Durlacher was born in Karlsruhe, Baden in 1817. He went to Paris in 1845 as a teacher of languages, and founded a Hebrew publishing-house, which was continued, after his death, by his son. He compiled a Hebrew reader and an almanac, and wrote a small book entitled ''Joseph and His Brothers''. Admiral Sir Laurence George Durlacher KCB OBE DSC (24 July 1904 – 16 January 1986) was a Royal Navy officer who went on to be Fifth Sea Lord. Naval career Durlacher joined the Royal Navy and chose to specialise in signals. He served in World War II initially as Commander of HM Signal School at the Admiralty and then as Fleet Signals Officer on the staff of Admiral Andrew Cunningham during the campaigns in North Africa, Sicily and Italy.
