Durham Performing Arts Center
The Durham Performing Arts Center (often called the DPAC) opened November 30, 2008 as the largest performing arts center in the Carolinas at a cost of $48 million. The DPAC hosts over 200 performances a year including touring Broadway productions, high-profile concert and comedy events, family shows and the American Dance Festival. Operated under the direction of Nederlander and Professional Facilities Management (PFM), DPAC has twice been listed as the #1 performing arts organization in the Triangle region by the Triangle Business Journal. The King And I
''The King and I'' is the fifth musical by the team of Rodgers and Hammerstein. It is based on Margaret Landon's novel '' Anna and the King of Siam'' (1944), which is in turn derived from the memoirs of Anna Leonowens, governess to the children of King Mongkut of Siam in the early 1860s. The musical's plot relates the experiences of Anna, a British schoolteacher who is hired as part of the King's drive to modernize his country. Chris Rock–Will Smith Slapping Incident
During the 94th Academy Awards on March 27, 2022 actor Will Smith walked onstage and slapped comedian Chris Rock across the face during Rock's presentation for Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature Film, Best Documentary Feature. The slap was in response to an unscripted joke Rock made about Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head, which was a result of alopecia. Rock said that he "can't wait to see" Pinkett Smith in a sequel to the film ''G.I. Jane'' (1997), in which Demi Moore's titular character has a shaved head. Thomas Stith
Thomas A. Stith III is an American politician. Stith was a member of the city council of Durham, North Carolina from 1999 to 2007.
