Dunlap High School (DHS) is a public four-year high school located at 5220 West Legion Hall Road in Dunlap, Illinois, a village in Peoria County, Illinois, in the Midwestern United States. DHS serves the communities of Dunlap, Alta, Edwards, and Peoria (small northern portion). The campus is located less than 10 miles north of Peoria, Illinois, and serves a mixed city, village, and rural residential community. Academics In 2009, Dunlap High School made Adequate Yearly Progress, with 77.9% of students meeting standards, on the Prairie State Achievement Examination, a state test that is part of the No Child Left Behind Act. The school's average high school graduation rate between 1999 and 2009 was 98%. Dunlap High School received a platinum medal from '' U.S. News & World Report'' in 2010 as one of the nation's best high schools. Dunlap, Illinois
Dunlap is a village in Peoria County, Illinois, United States. Its population was 1,386 people as of the 2010 census. Dunlap is part of the Peoria metropolitan area and growth in the city of Peoria is extending towards the village. There are only a handful of businesses in the village's 16 blocks. History The town of Dunlap was officially established on June 12, 1871, on 40 acres of land owned by Alva Dunlap. The site of his former home is now occupied by the Prospect United Methodist Church. The town was originally located along the Rock Island Railroad. A post office has been in operation at Dunlap since 1871. The Dunlap Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad was established in 1899. Police services are provided by the Peoria County Sheriff's Office. Prairie State Achievement Examination
The Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) was a two-day standardized test taken by all High school (North America), high school Eleventh grade, Juniors in the U.S. state of Illinois. On the first day, students take the ACT (examination), ACT, and on the second day, a WorkKeys examination and Illinois State Board of Education-developed science examination. The test is no longer administered in Illinois schools; however, it was required for all Illinois High School Students from 2001 to 2014.
