Dunkerron North
Dunkerron North () is a historical barony in central County Kerry, Ireland. Baronies were mainly cadastral rather than administrative units. They acquired modest local taxation and spending functions in the 19th century before being superseded by the Local Government (Ireland) Act 1898. History The two Dunkerron baronies were originally one (named for Dunkerron Castle); they were divided into North and South some time before 1851. The O'Sullivan Mór were lords in this area in the early 13th century; their descendants, the McGillicuddys, were lords here, with the ruler called McGillycuddy of the Reeks. Glencar () is a populated area in County Kerry, Ireland. The housing in Glencar is geographically distributed and, while it does not have a traditional village centre, the central point for the community is the post office and shop at "The Climbers' Inn". The River Laune (; Irish: ''An Leamhain'') is a river in County Kerry, Ireland, which flows from Lough Leane (sometimes written as Lough Lein), one of the Lakes of Killarney, through Beaufort, past Ballymalis Castle, through the town of Killorglin, and empties into the sea, first at Castlemaine harbour beside the river Maine and then out through Dingle Bay. The Laune is well known for salmon and trout fishing. The river Laune is long and combined with the River Flesk , which feeds Lough Leane, has a total length of . It has a mean flow rate of 43 m³/s.
