Dunk (band)
Dunk, also previously known as Starkicker and blue.bottle.fly., was a Canadian power pop band from St. Catharines, Ontario, who were active from the mid 1990s to the early 2000s."New name means new approach for Dunk". ''Victoria Times-Colonist'', November 25, 1999. History The band formed in the early 1990s, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Ben Dunk, bassist Nick Dunk and drummer Doug Boudreau. The original name of the band was blue.bottle.fly. The band sold 1,500 copies of their independent album in the St. Catharines area, after which they were signed by Sony. In 1996, the band changed their name to Starkicker due to another band on the Sony label having a similar name, Bluebottle Kiss. The band released the album ''Beach Music'' through Sony in 1996. The first single from the album, "Get Up", peaked at No. 10 the week of August 26, 1996 on the ''RPM'' Alternative chart. By September 1996, the album had sold about 10,000 units. Wave (band)
Wave was a Canadian popular music, pop rock music, rock duo composed of Dave Thomson and Paul Gigliotti. They formed in 1999 in Niagara Falls, Ontario and are best known for their 2001 singles, "California (Wave song), California" and "Think It Over", both which were Top 10 radio hits in Canada. Their debut album ''Nothing as It Seems'' was a success, achieving gold certification. However, their second album ''State of Mind'' was a commercial failure. The band folded in 2003, with Thomson and Gigliotti pursuing separate careers in the music industry. The duo reunited in 2016 for a single show in their hometown. Edwin (musician)
Edwin Ghazal, known as Edwin is a Canadian alternative rock singer from Toronto. He is the lead vocalist for the Canadian rock band I Mother Earth as well as a solo artist and the lead singer for the Canadian supergroup Crash Karma. In 2016, he reunited with I Mother Earth for a series of shows and a tour commemorating the 20th anniversary of their most commercially successful album, '' Scenery and Fish''. Early life Edwin Ghazal was born in Toronto to Lebanese parents Moses and Marie Ghazal. He had a brother who was a doctor. I Mother Earth Edwin was the lead vocalist for I Mother Earth from 1990 to 1997. He performed on the band's first two albums, '' Dig'' and '' Scenery and Fish''. He also performed on the majority of the songs on '' Victor'', a 1996 side project with Alex Lifeson of Rush. He left IME in 1997. Edgefest
Edgefest was an annual outdoor rock festival in Canada. It was founded by staff members of Toronto radio station CFNY-FM. From 1987 to 2015, the festival was held every year in the summer (except for 2007). The festival was most frequently held on Canada Day at Molson Park in Barrie, Ontario or a venue in Toronto.
