Dullstroom
Dullstroom, also known as Emnothweni, is a small town in Mpumalanga province, South Africa. The town lies north of Belfast and some south-west of Lydenburg on the R540 road. Dullstroom lies on the Highveld platea that is found in South Africa, and is the reason that its climate is so different from the surrounding areas. Along with Barkly East and Underberg, it is one of South Africa's premier flyfishing destinations. The town features the highest railway station in South Africa at above sea level as well as at the foot of De Berg, the highest point in the province at . History The area was occupied in the mid-19th century by the Southern Ndebele people under the rule of King Mabhoko (called Mapoch by white settlers). Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga () is a province of South Africa. The name means "East", or literally "The Place Where the Sun Rises" in the Swazi, Xhosa, Ndebele and Zulu languages. Mpumalanga lies in eastern South Africa, bordering Eswatini and Mozambique. It constitutes 6.5% of South Africa's land area. Underberg is an administrative town in a dairy and cattle farming community in the Mzimkulu River valley of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is situated at the foot of the 1,904 m Hlogoma Peak ''(place of echoes)'' in the foothills of the southern Drakensberg, KwaZulu-Natal. Underberg was established in 1917 when the railway from Pietermaritzburg reached the area. South African Republic
The South African Republic ( nl, Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek, abbreviated ZAR; af, Suid-Afrikaanse Republiek), also known as the Transvaal Republic, was an independent Boer Republic in Southern Africa which existed from 1852 to 1902, when it was annexed into the British Empire as a result of the Second Boer War. Nyabêla
Nyabêla (1825/30 - 1902) also known in Afrikaans as Niabel , was a chief of the Ndzundza-Ndebele during the nineteenth century . He is remembered for his struggle against whites for control of his tribe's own territory. Origin Nyabêla's ancestors probably moved from the southeast coast of Africa to the Highveld in the sixteenth or seventeenth century and settled near the later Pretoria . These people were later called the Ndebele of Transvaal . Nowadays we call them the Ndebele of South Africa. One of their chiefs, Ndzundza, moved to the Steelpoort Valley in Mpumalanga . After many hardships, this part of the tribe went to live at a place along the Steelpoort River called Nomtshagelo. Nomtshagelo was later surveyed as the farm Mapochsgronde. Southern Ndebele People
AmaNdebele are an Mbo ethnic group native to South Africa who speak isiNdebele language. AmaNdebele mainly inhabit the provinces of Mpumalanga, Gauteng and Limpopo, all of which are in the northeast of the country. Although both are part of the larger Mbo ethnic group, the South African Ndebele should not be confused with the AbaThwakazi of Zimbabwe who are a more recent offshoot of the Zulu. The amaNdebele are related to and considered part of the same nation as the maNdrebele who inhibit parts of Limpopo and Northwest provinces.
