Dukla Mine
Dukla mine () is a closed coal mine located in Dolní Suchá near the city of Havířov in the Czech Republic. A disaster occurred there in 1961, now depicted in film Dukla 61. History It was founded in 1907. The Dukla name was used since 1947. After 1947, it was part OKD which is the abbreviation for Ostrava-Karviná Mines. Previous names were Kaiser Franz-Josef Mine, and Sucha Mine. The top coal production was achieved in 1971 (2041 thousand tons). On 1 July 1995 the mine merged with another local Lazy Mine (together with another nearby František Mine). In 2006, it further merged again with Mine Paskov. Shortly after the 2006 merger, it was decided the mine will be shut down. Havířov
Havířov () is a city in Karviná District in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 69,000 inhabitants, making it the second largest city in the region. Havířov was founded in 1955 and is the youngest Czech city. It is an industrial city, historically associated with hard coal mining in the region. Dolní Suchá
Dolní Suchá (, ) is a village in Karviná District, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. It was a separate municipality but became administratively a part of Havířov in 1960. It has a population of 901 (2020). The village lies in the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia. The name is of topographic origin, supposedly derived from an older name of a hypothetical river or stream ''Sucha'', literally ''dry'', therefore disappearing. The supplementary adjective ''Dolní'' (German: Nieder, Polish: Dolna) means ''Lower'' denoting its ''lower'' location in comparison to sister settlements: Prostřední Suchá (''Middle'') and Horní Suchá (''Upper''). ''Dukla 61'' is a 2018 Czech disaster film directed by David Ondříček. The film is set in 1961 when a mining disaster at Dukla Mine in Dolní Suchá killed 108 miners. The film focuses on a family of a man who works at the mine along with his son. The film premiered at Finále Plzeň Film Festival. The first part was broadcast on 27 May 2018.
