Dukhtar
''Dukhtar'' (; ) is a 2014 Pakistani drama-thriller film directed by Afia Nathaniel. The film stars Samiya Mumtaz, Mohib Mirza, Saleha Aref, Asif Khan, Ajab Gul and Samina Ahmad. The film is Afia Nathaniel's feature directorial debut; she also wrote and produced the film. It is the story of a mother and her ten-year-old daughter, who leave their home to save the girl from an arranged marriage to a tribal leader. The film was premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival on 5 September. Geo Films released the film in Pakistan on 18 September 2014. It was selected as Pakistan's Official entry in the category Best Foreign Language Film for the 87th Academy Awards, but was not nominated. It becomes Pakistan's second consecutive submission to Oscars and accepted as per the first one was '' Zinda Bhaag'' in same category. Samiya Mumtaz
Samiya Mumtaz ( ur, ) (born 1970, Karachi), is a Pakistani film and television actress. She has performed in several TV dramas. Family Mumtaz was born to Khawar and Kamil Khan Mumtaz. Her mother is a prominent women's rights activist, while her father is an architect. She has two brothers, and two children. Career She first appeared a show in Shahid Nadeem's directed drama serial '' Zard Dopehar'' aired on PTV in 1995. Afia Nathaniel
Afia Serena Nathaniel (born 1974) is an independent Pakistani filmmaker who works primarily as a writer, director, producer and editor. She is a graduate of the Film Division at the Columbia University School of the Arts (2006). Early life Afia Nathaniel was born in Quetta, Pakistan. She is the eldest of three girls. Her father was in the Armed Forces and her mother a professor of English. Afia was brought up and educated in Lahore. Education Afia did her Senior Cambridge from Convent of Jesus and Mary, Lahore. She then attended Kinnaird College from 1991 to 1994, graduating with a BSc degree. She majored in Mathematics with a minor in Physics. Samina Ahmad is a Pakistani film and television actress, stage performer, producer and director. She is a veteran television actress with over 50 years of work experience in the Urdu entertainment industry. The 39th annual Toronto International Film Festival, the 39th event in the Toronto International Film Festival series, was held in Canada from 4–14 September 2014. David Dobkin's film '' The Judge'', starring Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall was the opening night film. Mohib Mirza ( ur, ) (born 18 August 1979) is a Pakistani actor, director, television host and comedian. He is known for his work in film and television industry of Pakistan for which he has been nominated for various awards. Career Mirza started off as a theatre actor in 1999.
