Dufferin District Field
Dufferin District Field was a Canadian exposition soccer facility. It was located in Thornhill, Ontario, Canada. Dufferin District Field broke ground in 1995, was built 1996, and opened in 1998. The field was built for the Canadian Soccer League (2006–present), Canadian Professional Soccer League team, Glen Shields. The team became the Glen Shields Sun Devils in 1999, then changed their name to the Vaughan Sun Devils in 2002, and then again in 2003 to the Vaughan Shooters. The field closed in 2005 after the Shooters transferred to the Ontario Soccer Centre, St. Joan of Arc Turf Field in Maple, Ontario, 20 km north-west of downtown Toronto. Thornhill, Ontario
Thornhill is a suburban district in the Regional Municipality of York in Ontario, Canada, split between the City of Vaughan (its western portion) and the City of Markham (its eastern portion), with Yonge Street forming the municipal boundary. The Ontario Soccer Association, founded in 1901, is one of the oldest and largest sport organizations in Canada. The OSA currently has more than 500,000 registered participants and provides development opportunities for players, coaches, referees, and administrators. The Canadian Soccer League (CSL; french: Ligue canadienne de soccer — LCS) is a semi-professional league for Canadian soccer clubs primarily located in the province of Ontario, and claims the history of the Canadian National Soccer League (CNSL). The Soccer Centre, also known as the Ontario Soccer Centre, is a Canadian competition, training, education, and exposition soccer facility. It is located in Vaughan, Ontario, 20 km north-west of downtown Toronto. Details The centre features a field house that can accommodate three indoor soccer fields or one full size 11-a-side game.
