Dudaim
The Dudaim () was an Music of Israel, Israeli folk duo which was active between the years 1957–1993, consisting of vocalist and guitarist (born 1935). The name of the band ''Dudaim'' comes from the Hebrew word for the mandrake plant, which is native to the Mediterranean region. History Dudaim was formed in 1957 when Amdursky and Guriun met in a party in Jerusalem and started singing together. Their first album ''Erev Shel Shoshanim'' came out in 1957, and included the hit song in the same name. Another hit song from the same album was ''Tapuach Hineni'' (תפוח חינני) which was later recorded by the Weavers. In 1959, they toured Europe and the USA. Yarkon Bridge Trio
Yarkon Bridge Trio ( he, שלישיית גשר הירקון), or The Yarkon Trio, was an Israeli vocal group which operated from 1963 to 1966. History The group was established in 1963, when The Dudaim member Benny Amdursky drafted Arik Einstein, who was part of HaGafrurim duo, and Yehoram Gaon, who was a member of The Roosters to establish the trio. The group picked the name upon a suggestion from Einstein, after a bridge over the Yarkon River on the main road that connects the Tel Aviv city center and its northern neighborhoods. During its early period the group performed several shows, which were met in little enthusiasm. In order to bolster the group's repertoire, the group and its producers, Dahn Ben-Amotz and Haim Hefer, contacted songwriter Naomi Shemer, who penned three new songs for the group, one of which, "Laila BeChof Achziv" (Night in Achziv Beach; he, לילה בחוף אכזיב), the group performed in the film Dalia And The Sailors, along with a parody of The ... Hed Arzi Music ( he, הד ארצי, meaning: ''Echo of My Country'') is an Israeli record label founded in 1946. History The company was founded in Tel Aviv in 1946 as a partnership of Zvi Levin (also known as Hirsch Lewin) with Josef Grossman, Alexander Borowitz and Ephraim Ruttenberg. Mr. Levin was a refugee from Berlin where he has owned and operated a bookshop and recording label ''Semer'' (from the Hebrew "Zemer", meaning song). The Semer label operated from approximately 1932 until the recording masters and inventory were smashed and burned during Kristallnacht. Hed-Arzi started operating in September 1947, managed by Ephraim Felix Rzeczynski, making it the oldest recording company in Israel (followed by Makolit in Jaffa, Tslil in Tel-Aviv and others). Erev Shel Shoshanim
"Erev Shel Shoshanim" ( en, Evening of Lilies or ''Evening of Roses''; the Hebrew word ''shoshana'' has been identified with both flowers) is a poetic Hebrew love song. Its melody is often used as wedding music in Jewish weddings. It is well known not only within Israeli and Jewish music circles, but known throughout the Middle East, and it is often used as a song belly dancers dance to. The music is by Yosef Hadar, the lyrics are by Moshe Dor. The song was first recorded in 1957 by singer Yafa Yarkoni, and a year later by the duo HaDuda'im. Their version became a smash hit in Israel. The Dudaim toured the world extensively in the '60s, and "Erev Shel Shoshanim" became one of their international signature songs. Jaffa
Jaffa, in Hebrew Yafo ( he, יָפוֹ, ) and in Arabic Yafa ( ar, يَافَا) and also called Japho or Joppa, the southern and oldest part of Tel Aviv-Yafo, is an ancient port city in Israel. Jaffa is known for its association with the biblical stories of Jonah, Solomon and Saint Peter as well as the mythological story of Andromeda and Perseus, and later for its oranges. Today, Jaffa is one of Israel's mixed cities, with approximately 37% of the city being Arab. Etymology The town was mentioned in Egyptian sources and the Amarna letters as ''Yapu''. Danny Robas ( he, דני רובס; born December 24, 1957) is an Israeli pop-rock singer and songwriter. Daniel (Danny) Robas was born in 1957 in Kibbutz Shoval, and grew up in Rehovot. He completed his military service in the artillery corps at the rank of a lieutenant. Robas began his musical career as a guitarist, working with singers such as Arik Sinai, Matti Caspi, and Shlomo Artzi. Francisco "Paco" Ibáñez (born 20 November 1934 in Valencia) is a Spanish singer and musician. Shalom Hanoch ( he, שלום חנוך) (born September 1, 1946) is an Israeli rock singer, lyricist and composer. He is considered to be the father of Israeli rock and modern Israeli music in general, both of which have been profoundly influenced by his work. Danny Sanderson ( he, דני סנדרסון; born November 30, 1950) is an Israeli musician, singer-songwriter and guitarist. In 2005, Sanderson received a lifetime achievement award for his contribution to Israeli music. Biography Sanderson was born in Kibbutz Kfar Blum, Israel to Jewish American parents. During his childhood, the family eventually moved to Haifa. His father worked as the director of El Al's North America department located in New York City, where the family relocated to in 1960. The Parvarim
The Parvarim (Hebrew: הפרברים, ''haparvarim'', lit: "The Suburbs") is an Israeli band that was first formed in 1960. The band was originally founded by the duo Nissim Menachem (1938–2016) and Yossi Khoury. For a brief while they were joined by Jimmy Siman Tov who joined in 1965 but left after six months. In 1977, Menachem became religious and left the group, he was replaced by Uri Harpaz. The group's name means "the suburbs" and is a reference to the founders' being raised in the Kerem HaTeimanim suburb of Jaffa. The name "Parvarim" were once a reference to the poorer areas of a city.
