''Drømmen'' (Danish "The Dream", English: ''We Shall Overcome'') is a 2006 Danish film based on a true story about a young boy's crusade against a dictatorial headmaster of the "old school", in 1969 Denmark. The film is directed by Danish screenwriter and film director Niels Arden Oplev and stars Bent Mejding and Anders W. Berthelsen. It won sixteen awards in 2006 and 2007. Synopsis The story opens in the Danish countryside of 1969. Denmark and the rest of the world are changing rapidly but Lindum-Svendsen, the headmaster of the rural school, hasn't noticed. Frits is a young boy who spends his summer holidays watching the family's first television, and is influenced by the American civil rights movement. The sermons and speeches of Martin Luther King Jr., who was assassinated in 1968, coupled with his own dreams of a better life, have given Frits courage and a desire for rebellion. Bent Mejding
Bent Mejding (born 14 January 1937) is a Danish actor, stage director and theatre manager. He won a Danish Film Academy Award in 1985 and 2007. He is married to the actress Susse Wold. Career Mejding had his debut at Folketeatret in Copenhagen and later appeared in several productions at Det Ny Teater Det Ny Teater (English: The New Theatre) is an established theatre in Copenhagen, Denmark, first opened in 1908. It is based in a building which spans a passage between Vesterbrogade and Gammel Kongevej in Copenhagen's theatre district on the ... up through the 1960s. In 1961, he founded Ungdommens Teater which from 1964 was based at Frederiksberg-Scenen. Jacob Groth
Jacob Groth (born 12 May 1951) is a Danish film composer. He is most known for scoring the film trilogy based on Stieg Larsson's Millennium series and a number of award-winning Danish TV series as well as the CBS series ''Unforgettable''. Among his most known works are "Would Anybody Die (For Me)" from ''The Girl Who Played with Fire'' and the opening song "Forgiveness" from the DR series '' The Eagle'', both of which have lyrics and vocals by his spouse, Misen Groth. Gyrd Løfqvist (2 June 1921 – 1 May 2012) was a Danish film actor. He appeared in more than sixty films from 1945 to 2006. Löfqvist came from a Norwegian-Swedish family living in Denmark. Bodil Awards
The Bodil Awards are the major Danish film awards given by the Danish Film Critics Association. The awards are presented annually at a ceremony in Copenhagen. Established in 1948, it is one of the oldest film awards in Europe. The awards are given without regard to commercial interests or box-office sales, but rather to highlight the films or actors that the critics regard as most worthy. The name of the award honours two of the most important actresses in Danish cinema, Bodil Kjer and Bodil Ipsen. Zlín Film Festival, also known as the International Film Festival for Children and Youth ( cs, Mezinárodní festival filmů pro děti a mládež) is an annual festival of children's film in Zlín in the Czech Republic. The Robert Award ( da, Robert prisen) is a Danish film prize awarded each year by the Danish Film Academy. It is the Danish equivalent of the American Oscars, British BAFTAs for films and Australian AACTA Awards.
