Drogheda Feud
The Drogheda feud is a series of allegedly connected crimes in Drogheda, Ireland. Four people have been killed as a result of the feud. The feud began in 2017 when a drug trafficking focused organized crime gang split into two divisions, with one faction led by Richie Carberry along with the Boylan brothers aged in their 20s from the Moneymore estate on the north side of town, and the other headed by Irish Travellers Owen Maguire and Cornelius Price. Background Since 2018 two criminal gangs in Drogheda have tried to control the illegal drug trade in the town. Shooting of Owen Maguire Owen Maguire was shot six times by a gunman on 5 July 2018 at his home in Cement Road, Drogheda. Cornelius Price
Cornelius Price (-2023) was an Irish organised crime gang leader. While he lived in Ireland, he lived in Gormanston, County Meath. Family He was a father of two children. Criminal history He was convicted of reckless endangerment by driving a van at a Garda at Balbriggan Garda station – the Garda had to jump out of the way. Price was sentenced to three years imprisonment for this and was released in May 2019. He was a chief suspect in the death of Benny Whitehouse and also in the disappearances of William Maughan and Anna Varslavane. He was believed to have lured the couple to his residence in Gormanstown, where they were murdered. He is also believed to have ordered a pipe bomb attack on the sister of William Maughan shortly after the latter went missing. Drogheda ( , ; , meaning "bridge at the ford") is an industrial and port town in County Louth on the east coast of Ireland, north of Dublin. It is located on the Dublin–Belfast corridor on the east coast of Ireland, mostly in County Louth but with the south fringes of the town in County Meath, north of Dublin city centre. Drogheda had a population of 44,135 inhabitants in 2022, making it the List of settlements on the island of Ireland by population, eleventh largest settlement by population in all of Ireland, and the largest town in Ireland, by both population and area. The Circuit Court () of Ireland is an intermediate level court of local and limited jurisdiction which hears both civil and criminal matters. The Emergency Response Unit (ERU) () is the police tactical unit of the ''Garda Síochána'', Republic of Ireland, Ireland's national police and security service. Jeremy Andrew Harris, (born 5 April 1965), is the current Commissioner of the Garda Síochána in the Republic of Ireland, having assumed office in September 2018. He previously served as Deputy Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) from 2014 to 2018. Gerald Henry Nash (born 7 December 1975) is an Irish Labour Party politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Louth constituency since 2020, and previously from 2011 to 2016.
