Droane
Droane (pronounced Droàne) is a hamlet of Valvestino, to the valley in the province of Brescia, Lombardy, in northern Italy. Geography Droane is the oldest settlement in the Val Vestino and was common until the 16th century, a period in which the population, according to local tradition, was decimated by the plague. Located in the valley of Droanello Turano is about 6 km from the capital and is served by a road or electricity. The population consists of three people dedicated to the breeding of livestock. Toponymy According to G.P. Brogiolo, professor of Medieval Archaeology at University of Padova, the name derives from the word of pre-Indo-European origin "dru" which means "steep rise". Valvestino
Valvestino (Brescian: ) is a in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy in northern Italy. Historical and cultural profile The Stoni (or Stoeni) people and the Gallic Cenomani, then the Romans and the Lombards settled the area. The Lodrone family were the lords of Valvestino from 1200 to 1807. The valley was―officially―absorbed by the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the mid-19th century but for many years operated, in effect, as an autonomous region without external oversight, owing to its relative geographic isolation in the mountains. It came to Italy in 1919. Valvestino was separated administratively from Trentino in 1934, becoming a of five (municipal subdivisions): Armo, Bollone, Moerna, Persone and . Vigilius Of Trent
Vigilius of Trent (, ; c. 353 – 26 June 405) is venerated as the patron saint and bishop of Trent. He should not be confused with the pope of the same name. Life According to tradition, he was a Roman patrician, the son of Maxentia and a man whose name is sometimes given as Theodosius. His brothers, Claudian and Magorian, are also venerated as saints. Vigilius was educated at Athens and seems to have been a friend of John Chrysostom. In 380, Vigilius settled in the city of Trent and was chosen as the city's bishop. He may have been consecrated by either Ambrose of Milan or Valerian (Valerianus) of Aquileia. Ambrose donated the episcopal insignia and showed a paternal solicitude for Vigilius. Pope Urban III (; died 20 October 1187), born Uberto Crivelli, reigned from 25 November 1185 to his death in 1187. Early career Crivelli was born in Cuggiono, Italy as the son of Guala Crivelli and had four brothers: Pietro, Domenico, Pastore and Guala. It is often said that the future Pope Celestine IV was the son of Urban's sister, but this claim is without foundation. He studied in Bologna. Gargnano
Gargnano () is a town and (municipality) in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy, Italy. It is situated on the western shore of Lake Garda. The municipal territory includes the artificial Valvestino Lake, created in 1962. History The name of the village appears for the first time in a document of 937 as Garniano, perhaps derived from the Latin stem ''Garenius''.
