''A Piece of Sky'' () is a 2022 Swiss-German romantic drama film written and directed by Swiss filmmaker Michael Koch. The film was set against the backdrop of Swiss Alps. The film was officially selected at 72nd Berlin International Film Festival. The film also earned special mention from the main competition jury for its screenplay during the Berlin International Film Festival. It was selected as the Swiss entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. Synopsis The film revolves around the relationship between Marco (Simon Wisler) and Anna (Michele Brand) although Marco is an outsider whereas Anna is a native person. Michael Koch (film Director)
Michael Koch (born 2 July 1982 in Lucerne) is a Swiss film director and screenwriter. Life and work At the age of 17 Koch made his acting debut at the Young Theater of Basel (Junges Theater Basel), where he appeared in further productions until 2002. In 2003 he played the lead role in the Swiss comedy Achtung, fertig, Charlie!. In the same year, Koch began studying at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, while at the same time working occasionally as an actor for television films until 2007. As a director, Koch made several short films during his studies, which were shown at many German and foreign film festivals and received numerous awards. In 2005, his short documentary film We Are the Faithful about the chief supporter in the FC Basel fan curve was released. The Motovun Film Festival is an annual film festival established in 1999 and held in the small town of Motovun, Croatia until 2023, when it moved to a new location, Petehovac in Gorski Kotar.
