Drew Henderson
Drew Henderson (born March 19, 1971) is an American-Dutch retired professional basketball player and coach and a current university administrator. He has played and coached internationally. Henderson has also been a member of the Dutch national basketball team. Early life Henderson was born in New York. A 6'7" multi-sport athlete as a child and excelled at basketball, football, and boxing. At age 15, Henderson moved to Rochester, New York and attended McQuaid Jesuit High School, where he played basketball and won a state championship his junior year. He then earned a basketball scholarship to Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. College career After his freshman year at Fairfield, Henderson was chosen as a member of the All-Freshman Team of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Forward (basketball)
In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. Over time, as more specialized roles developed, each of the guards and forwards came to be differentiated, and today each of the five positions are known by unique names, each of which has also been assigned a number: point guard (PG) or 1, the shooting guard (SG) or 2, the small forward (SF) or 3, the power forward (PF) or 4, and the center (C) or 5. Netherlands Men's National Basketball Team
The Netherlands men's national basketball team ( nl, Het Nederlands nationaal basketbalteam) represents the Netherlands in international basketball matches. The national team is governed by Basketball Nederland. The Dutch have reached the European Basketball Championship on 15 occasions. Their best results at the event came in 1983, where they finished in fourth place. They have also qualified for the FIBA World Cup once, in 1986. Assists were first recognized in the 1950–51 season, but only lasted through 1951–52 before the NCAA stopped recording them until the 1983–84 season. All players on this list have accumulated at least 20 assists in a game while playing for a Division I university. Through the most recent 2019–20 season, this has occurred only 22 times. Maarten Van Gent
Maarten Herman van Gent (born 22 March 1947 in Rotterdam, Netherlands) is a Dutch basketball coach, manager, scout and businessman. Van Gent started playing basketball at age 17. He also played korfball and soccer in college. After serving in the Royal Netherlands Army in 1968, he became a physical education teacher. In 1970 at age 23, van Gent started coaching basketball teams. The first team was AMVJ Rotterdam. After five years with the team, he started coaching Frisol Rowic in Dordrecht. In 1982, he won the Dutch Championship with Nationale Nederlanden Donar. From 1984 to 1990, van Gent coached in Belgium and won the Belgian Championship in 1985 with Sunair Oostende. He quit coaching in 1991 after he was fired from Houthalen basketball team. In 1992, he moved to Estonia and started working as a basketball agent for Globe Sports Management in Europe.
