Dream It Down
''Dream It Down'' is the third album by Australian indie rock/electronic band Underground Lovers, released in 1994. It was the second and final album released as part of a recording contract with the Polydor label and was named Australian album of the year by Triple J. Two singles, "Las Vegas" (May 1994) and "Losin' It" (August 1994) were taken from the album. Background Songwriter Vincent Giarrusso said the band wanted the album to be markedly different from its predecessor. "''Leaves Me Blind'' had a desperate feel to it," he said. "With this new album we wanted to make the point that you can be subversive and confronting by softer means—that's even more powerful than being smacked over the head with drum rolls and guitars going the whole time." Underground Lovers
Underground Lovers (sometimes stylised as undergroundLOVERS), are an Australian indie rock and electronic music band. The founding mainstays are Glenn Bennie (guitar, vocals) and Vincent Giarrusso (vocals, guitar, keyboard) who had formed the group as GBVG, in 1988. By May 1990 the duo were renamed as Underground Lovers and joined by Richard Andrew (drums), Maurice Argiro (bass guitar) and Philippa Nihill (vocals, guitar and keyboard). Triple J
Triple J (stylised in all lowercase) is a government-funded, national Australian radio station intended to appeal to listeners of alternative music, which began broadcasting in January 1975. The station also places a greater emphasis on broadcasting Australian content compared to commercial stations. Triple J is a division of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Amanda Brown (musician)
Amanda Gabrielle Brown (born 17 November 1965) is an Australian composer, classically trained musician, singer and songwriter known for her role as the violinist of the band The Go-Betweens and more recently a session musician and soundtrack composer. Career 1980s Brown's early bands during the early 1980s were Climbing Frame, Tender Mercies (with John Willsteed, also later with The Go-Betweens) and Blood Brothers, in which she played violin, oboe, guitar and keyboards. In 1986, The Go-Betweens – soon after signing a new contract (this time with Beggars Banquet) – discovered Amanda Brown playing live in a café. Essendon Airport (band)
Essendon Airport is an Australian electronic music, post-punk group formed in 1978 which explored experimental minimalist and funk music. Founding mainstays were the duo of David Chesworth on electric piano and drum machine and Robert Goodge on guitar. They were joined in late 1980 by Ian Cox on saxophone and Paul Fletcher on drums. In 1982 they added Barbara Hogarth on bass guitar but disbanded in the following year. The group issued a four-track extended play, ''Sonic Investigations (Of the Trivial)'' (May 1980), and a studio album, ''Palimpsest'' (May 1982). They reformed as the original duo line-up for occasional performances in 2003 after the issue of a compilation album, ''Sonic Investigations of the Trivial''. A new double CD version of ''Palimpsest'', and other live material, was released by Chapter Music in August 2011. Robert Goodge
Gavin Campbell is an Australian club DJ and remixer based in Melbourne, Victoria. He created the dance music production outfit known as Filthy Lucre, which is known for its 1991 remix of Yothu Yindi's single, "Treaty", known as "Treaty (Filthy Lucre remix)". He is also the founder of Razor Recordings, formerly known as Razor Records. DJ Gavin Campbell was a renowned DJ at many Melbourne clubs of the 1980s and 1990s, including the highly successful Razor, along with Tasty, Savage, Bump! and others. The Tasty nightclub raid, in which Victoria Police raided the club and mistreated its predominantly LGBTQI clientele in 1994, brought the club to public attention, and was a seminal event in the history of gay rights in Australia.
