Billy Draycott
William Levi Draycott (15 February 1869 – May 1943) was an English footballer who played as a right half for Burslem Port Vale, Stoke, Burton Wanderers, Newton Heath, Bedminster, Bristol Rovers, Wellingborough and Luton Town in the 1890s and early 1900s. Career Draycott probably joined Burslem Port Vale in the summer of 1890. He made his debut at the Athletic Ground in a 2–1 friendly defeat to West Bromwich Albion on 29 September 1890. He made nine appearances for the club, scoring two goals, and was a member of the side that shared the North Staffordshire Charity Challenge Cup in 1891. He transferred to local rivals Stoke in June 1891, where he played in just two the Football League matches in three seasons at the Victoria Ground. He then spent the 1894–95 and 1895–96 seasons with Football League newcomers Burton Wanderers, scoring three goals in 50 league games. He joined Newton Heath in May 1896. Henry Draycott
Henry Draycott (c. 1510–1572) was an English-born Crown official and judge in sixteenth-century Ireland, who held a number of senior Government offices, including Chancellor of the Exchequer of Ireland. Despite his apparent lack of legal qualifications, he also had a successful career as a judge, becoming a Baron of the Court of Exchequer (Ireland) and Master of the Rolls in Ireland. He became a substantial landowner in the Pale, with his principal estate at Mornington, County Meath. His daughter Alice died in mysterious circumstances after a banquet in Dublin Castle in 1576, as did the Earl of Essex, the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland; they were both allegedly victims of poisoning (they drank from the same cup at the banquet), although it is more likely that they both died a natural death. Jane Draycott
Jane Draycott FRSL is a British poet, artistic collaborator and poetry translator. She was born in London in 1954 and studied at King's College London and the University of Bristol. Draycott's fifth collectio''The Kingdom''was published in 2023 by Carcanet Press. Teaching Draycott teaches as Senior Associate Tutor on Oxford University'MSt in Creative Writing and until 2022 was Senior Lecturer in the Department of English and Creative Writing at Lancaster University as well as a mentor on the Crossing Borders creative writing initiative, set up by the British Council and Lancaster University.
