Dragon Quest Monsters
''Dragon Quest Monsters'' is a spin-off series of the ''Dragon Quest'' games. Published by Square Enix (formerly Enix), it sets the player in a medieval/fantasy world filled with magic, monsters and knights. Unlike the original ''Dragon Quest'' games, the player's character does not do any of the fighting in battles; instead the player has to rely on capturing, breeding and raising monsters to do the fighting for them. The concept originated from ''Dragon Quest V'' (1992). The character and monster designs are by ''Dragon Ball'' creator, Akira Toriyama. The series spans several handheld gaming systems, and each game has received positive reviews from critics. Upon the series' debut in the US, it was quickly labeled as a "''Pokémon'' clone" by critics. For the first two US releases, the titles used ''Warrior'' instead of the original Japanese ''Quest''. Yuji Horii
(also written as Yuuji Horii; born January 6, 1954) is a Japanese video game designer and scenario writer best known as the creator of the ''Dragon Quest'' series of role-playing games, supervising and writing the scenario for '' Chrono Trigger'', as well as one of the first visual novel adventure games '' Portopia Serial Murder Case''. The PAL region is a television publication territory that covers most of Europe and Africa, alongside parts of Asia, South America and Oceania. It is named PAL because of the PAL (Phase Alternating Line) television standard traditionally used in some of those regions, as opposed to the NTSC standard traditionally used in Japan and most of North America. ''Dragon Warrior Monsters 2'', known in Japan as , is a role-playing video game published by Enix for the Game Boy Color. It is the second ''Dragon Warrior Monsters'' game for the Game Boy Color and features two different versions of the same game, ''Cobi's Journey'' (released as ''Dragon Quest Monsters 2 - Maruta No Fushigi Na Kagi - Ruka no Tabidachi'' in Japan) and ''Tara's Adventure'' (released as ''Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Maruta No Fushigi Na Kagi - Iru no Bouken'' in Japan).
