Drafted (comics)
''Drafted'' is a comic book series by Mark Powers and Chris Lie, published by Devil's Due Publishing starting in 2007. Publication history A 99-cent preview was published in June 2007 and the main series began in September 2007. Twelve issues were published up to October 2008. Plot It is the story of the human race in the early 21st century, and their encounter with alien beings who need their help in an intergalactic war. Without much choice, the humans of Earth are drafted into the conflict. In the one-shot publication ''Drafted: One Hundred Days'', scheduled to be shipped in June 2009, the story picks up after the first wave of alien attacks has been repelled. As Chicago suffers through the worst winter in a century, former U.S. Senator Barack Obama is conscripted into a construction unit tasked to rebuild the city. Devil's Due Publishing (often abbreviated as DDP) is an independent comic book publisher in the United States. Based in Chicago, Illinois, DDP is best known for its wide selection of genres, including licensed and original creator-owned properties which populate its monthly comic book series and graphic novels. Though principally a publishing company, DDP has also produced a stage play based on the Hack/Slash comic series, ''Stagefright'', in conjunction with the New Millennium Theatre Company that played at the National Pastime Theater in Chicago from September 23 to October 29, 2005. Intergalactic War
An interstellar war is a hypothetical space war between combatants from different planetary systems. The concept provides a common plot device in science fiction, especially in the space opera subgenre. In contrast, the term ''intergalactic war'' refers to war between combatants from different galaxies, and ''interplanetary war'' refers to war between combatants from different planets of the same planetary system. Likelihood Michael H. Hart argued that if humans ever spread to other planetary systems, the actual likelihood of interstellar war would be low due to the immense distances (and hence travel times involved)—interstellar war would require a vastly greater investment of time and resources than present-day intraplanetary wars involve. Barack Hussein Obama II (born August 4, 1961) is an American politician who was the 44th president of the United States from 2009 to 2017. Blair Butler
Blair Butler (born June 28, 1977) is an American stand-up comic, television host and screenwriter, known for her work on the "Fresh Ink" and other segments on the G4 program ''Attack of the Show!''. Career Butler's father is Robert Butler, longtime film critic for the ''Kansas City Star''. Butler graduated from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois. She became the head writer of G4's flagship television program ''X-Play''. Although she identifies herself as a writer/producer, her work as a stand-up comedian, including being featured on Comedy Central's ''Premium Blend'', opened the way for her to work on-camera. Chris Bender (producer)
Chris Bender (born 1971) is an American film producer whose beginnings were through developing and co-producing '' American Pie'' film series based on his and writer Adam Herz' own high school experiences. In November 1998, he established the management and production company Benderspink with partner J.C. Spink, a fellow alumnus of Bucknell University. Benderspink had a successful first look deal with New Line Cinema for over 15 years and a first look deal with Universal Cable Productions and before that, CBS Studios and Fox 21. In 2016, Bender and Spink split up to pursue forming their own companies. J.C. Spink died in 2017 and was celebrated at a memorial service attended by industry friends and family.
